Andre Brooks

Before the season started I hoped he'd get a loan move to L1 for some game time because I didn't want to see him get stifled like Jebbo or Osula.
The difference with Brooks (and Arblaster) is he looks much, much more comfortable in the first team than Jebbo or Osula ever did for us.
Rak-Sakyi hasn't done anything wrong but I'd start with Brooks against Derby because he's a menace for opposition defenders. Skillful, quick and very aware of of where his teammates are (see his assist last night). When he adds goals to his game we'll have a top PL player on our hands.

If you saw him play against you he's the sort of player that makes you reach for the matchday programme to lookup his name.

Lads only 21. He's going all the way.

Mccallum said in his after match interview he yelled at Brooks "heels heels" for the side heel pass.

I would prefer to see him start most games this season than JRS. Firstly because he is our player but secondly I think he gives more all round play. He works hard but still offers that creativity.
Agree with this JRS doesn't work as hard as Brookes and his defensive covering is not as good, however JRS would be a great sub to bring on to run at tired defences.

It's also good to compare the two. Crystal palace rate JRS very highly with talk he is a replacement for Eze, he is also nearly year older than Brookes yet I believe Brookes has at this moment the slight edge. Brilliant prospect.

Think it's (or was) perfectly reasonable to question his end product at this level. Even at youth team level it lacked at times. I've absolutely no doubt it was a side to his game that the coaching staff wanted to add to. Hopefully the goals will come too as well. Fantastic assist yesterday.

agree to some degree, I think all player should be open to criticism. He did lots of good things as well. The way he faked the shot and cut inside to shoot was nice to make the opportunity. His finishing though does need work. Hopefully that will come from experience/exposure. From memory he could've had 2/3 tonight. 🤞

Its the final shot when there are 2/3 defenders in front of him thats disappointing. Off the boil tonight but still an asset to the team.

He’s such a strange player. I love him and hate parts of his game in equal measure.

Apart from a ten minute spell when he played like Messi I thought Brooks was poor although tbf Ran Sakyi was as well when he came in. Thought Moore made a difference.

Campbell as CF didn't suit him, he hand no one to try and pick out.

Should have looked up and squared that to Campbell instead of shooting which meant Campbell had to hit it into the ground.

TBF, that's unlucky for Campbell as on another day, that probably goes in off the underside of the bar, same with Moore when he hit the post and Brewster with that curling shot that went just wide. On another day, all three of those go in, or Brewsters at least hits the target.

Other than that, thought he was one of our better players, especially start of the second half.

Brooks, Campbell, Brewster and Moore (when the latter 2 came on) all showed the ball when they got into good positions for it.

Thought Shackleton had a decent game as well.

I’ve changed my profile to him because I love him so much, but he’s not had his best game today. Rak Sakyi was anonymous when he came on for him, and Brooks was starting to play well.

Head up Brooksy, I believe in you pal.

One major fault which is a tendency to overplay and not release when he should but otherwise I haven’t a clue why he was hooked tonight for a completely ineffective luxury player. Yes he should have scored but at least he was getting in the right position unlike O’Hare.

If he wasn’t an academy lad he’d be getting pelters.
His overall play was poor his shooting even worse. Decision making and ball retention also poor.
I also don’t think his defensive abilities save him either.

If we had the funds it would be the area of the pitch I’d spend on.

Not his best game tonight, he has bad days and good days. Shame he didn't score, that was the best he played all night

If he had the self belief and could finish he would be on about the same goals as Josh Maja so far.

Brooksy is a top talent he just needs to add some composure to his game.

We need to realise this is a young lad who’s in essence is a youth player for us. We are trying to turn league one players into championship players over night. These nights will happen the same with Peck.

They will make more mistakes than an out an out championship winger with 200 games under their belt etc. They are learning it for sufc short term detriment but hopefully for the long term gain.
