Did everything right apart from score. Just needs to show a bit of composure in front of goal. Hopefully when he gets one, it’ll settle him down and he’ll contribute a few.

It’s a lot harder to beat men, and create those sort of chances than it is to just slot it in. Just requires lots of practice and confidence.

If AB is able to start converting chances like that, he’ll immediately be one of the best wingers/wide forwards in the league.

If he wasn’t an academy lad he’d be getting pelters.
His overall play was poor his shooting even worse. Decision making and ball retention also poor.
I also don’t think his defensive abilities save him either.

If we had the funds it would be the area of the pitch I’d spend on.
Wow- I couldn't disagree more.

He's absolute bang full of talent and strength, OK last night wasn't great but it happens. First half poor, second he was just getting good then pulled. He's better than Raki because his all round game is better.

If we had the funds - we'd all have a bought a good striker and an extra midfielder- but to pick on Brooksy is plain wrong- he's a wonderful talent and will definitely prove YOU wrong, I'm already won over.

What’s he done wrong to play?
He's been kept out of the team by Rak-Sakyi, which doesn't say much about Brooks as that's a shirt up for grabs. I've not seen anything yet to convince me that he's a Championship level player. Wilder obviously doesn't either or he'd have started him today. I expect he'll go out on loan if we bring another right winger in.

I think we look at Brooks in the wrong way. He was never ready to play Championship football but did incredibly well the first 10 games. He needs a loan to league 1. As do a few others like One, but that's probably league 2.

i think souttars injury means we definetly need a right back to come in gilchrist will be switched to centre back his proper position midfielder winger and another striker is needed

Agree

for balance,
Leeds have Gnoto or Dan James
Burnley had Antony
Sunderland Patrick Roberts

We need experienced heads out there, know long term wages would be a problem, but would love to see Almiron or Wilson from Newcastle on loan with option if we go up, as a statement signing from new owners

Surely we’ll just play Anel and Robinson and leave Gilchrist at right back?
We'll go out and get a towering centre back now. Alfie and Robbo are both under 6ft and Anel is the ball playing sweeper type.
Hopefully if he goes back we can use a loan to replace him

Struggling with this….we play Brewster in an unfamiliar role, Callum as a winger, Peck is being overplayed and still he doesn’t give AB a go…..is it something to do with his mate making the team selection public knowledge…

What this about his mate? Could be that, if true.

Does seem weird how little he's played lately, he started the season alternating the right wing spot with JRS, then became a regular sub for him after Rak Sakyi settled in, he had a couple of unremarkable sub appearances but no worse than anyone else's worst this season and about on a par with JRS's last few awful displays. Ruining the balance of the team to keep him benched yesterday was terrible management when he'd have done more defensively than O'Hare and we could have had a number 10 playng through balls rather than a lost-looking striker. Not sure what the agenda is with some on here claiming Brooks is only League 1 level, he was fairly decent in the Premier League and is totally serviceable at this level.

There have been rumours of Brooks sulking and saying he wants a move.
I don't know how true, but perhaps Black Cloud knows, as he seems to know some inside info...

To be honest, I haven't seen enough from him to justify the clamour for him to have more minutes. Since his incredible first game at Preston, he's not beaten his man or created a decent opportunity once. He's too safe and lacks end product.

There is some potential there and he needs minutes to realise it. If we had more bodies, a loan would be ideal.

Which ones and which of our players haven’t had bad games this season?
JRS has had bad games, but he's also won us games. Brooks hasn't, he's been consistently poor besides his promising start to the season.

He’s barely played since the first 3/4 games, during which he got two assists, plus another deflected cross that lead to a goal at Norwich (the last time he played for more than an hour).

He started and played 58 minutes against Swansea and was poor. JRS started the next game and scored both goals, Brooks came off the bench and was poor. He's then come off the bench five or six times and looked poor each time.

I'm a big fan, he was one of our best players in the back half of last season and brilliant pre season and in the first few games. Had he kept those performances up he'd have obviously been given more minutes.

So he’s not played 60 mins since the Norwich game then… everyone was poor against Swansea in fairness (also Bristol City, where he started and was poor, like everyone else, until that mad last 5/10 mins).

Is it realistic to write him off for his form dropping when he’s been largely out of the team? Especially when he was in form whilst playing regularly? It suggests to me a run of games gets the best out of him.

I’m not saying he is better than Rak-Sakyi either, just saying that I think we could have used him more and better. If these rumours about it being due to some kind of fallout with Wilder are true, then Wilder needs to decide how seriously he wants to take it and if it’s worth potentially handicapping our season over, or if he’s better of getting rid on a loan.

He absolutely shouldn't be written off, he's one of our finest prospects.

We shouldn't listen to rumours which normally end up being invented by losers for attention. I assume he's not played because Wilder will only play him on the right, just like JRS, and perhaps hasn't looked as good an option as senior players like McCallum or Brewster when a decision is made.

I hope he gets some more minutes soon, he should start against Cardiff in the cup at least.

Brooks well and truly staked his claim today to a regular start. Not everything he tries comes off but he contributes plenty in terms of creativity. Took his goal well, kept trying and nearly got a tremendous assist with his dribble and reverse pass for O’Hare’s chance in the second half. Suggestions on here that he’s not Championship class or even that he needs to go out on loan are well wide of the mark. Well done, lad.
