Andre Brooks

Not really. I've lost count of the number of times Brooks had served up a decent performance and then has been immediately benched for the next match.
Rotation pal, especially with a young player where there is another option, albeit an inferior one. The last thing we need is him out.

Great cross in the first 30 seconds too for One, who maybe should have done better.

We genuinely look more exciting going forward when he plays and he has the freedom to run with the ball. Hope Seriki is back soon, as he could do with a bit more attacking support on the right at times. We know of Gilchrist’s weaknesses there.

Looked back at his best today & a lot more confident on the ball & showing for it .. quality finish for the goal too 👌

He’s a young lad learning his trade.

Rak Sayki was performing way above him. He had that game where he should have scored 3 and didn’t. Wilder said 2 weeks ago had some issues with him in training.

Brought him back in and he has something to prove. It’s excellent man management and now it’s Brooks place to lose.

Scoring a goal like that, a winner, in a game like that in front of our fans was a hell of a moment for him and very satisfying for the fans - it's great to see them finally going in for him. Good celebration too
Is that the first Blades backflip since Mcatee?

I think brook’s integrates with the team better than JRS. Hopefully he can keep it going because he has the taken and the confidence will follow

Brooks on the RW and Seriki at RB overlapping.

BBD on the LW and Burrows at LB overlapping.

------------------------- Cooper

Seriki --- Anel --- New CB --- Burrows

------------- Souza --- Peck/New CM

Brookes --------- Hamer ---------- BBD

-‐---------------- Campbell/New CF

Pure football prawn 🤪

Love this guy. Obviously, still young and going to have dips in form and was perhaps struggling with confidence and a lack of game time but he’s been brilliant in his last two starts. I like JRS but that RW spot has to be his to lose now.

He's always dangerous. He can run in behind, he can dribble, he can take people on both on the outside and inside. He has the athletic capacity to both stretch the game and do the defensive side. To counter. If the end product from him is a bit more frequent you are talking 10 million + - he's so obviously a good option to have at this level. There's been so much more space in the final third for the others in the last few games 👀.

Great performance and brilliant celebration. Rest him against Cardiff, if possible. Keep him bristling for the Norwich game. Loving his game and his confidence.

Class goal today! Wilder will be keen to punish that by dropping him to the bench again I'm sure.
We have some time between Watford and Norwich games, so it's likely that Wilder will stick with him. But had we had a league game on Tues or Sat this week then i think yes, he'd have been rotated.

As we've seen this week, he's been rotated to get the best out of him

I’ve been pretty disappointed with him after the first 5 games. He looked like he lost all his confidence and drive once JRS had a good run and got ahead of him in the pecking order.

Maybe he threw his toys out the pram a little and that’s what Wilder was reacting to with his comments re training and unwillingness to bring him on. I wouldn’t blame a young lad for that, as long as he learns his lesson. If so, looks like Wilder has pulled off another good piece of man management because he’s looked well up for it in the last couple.

Tactically, it’s a funny one with brooks. I personally don’t see him as an out and out winger / attacking wide player. He has got quick feet and the ability to go round a player but for me he’s too one footed and isn’t as quick off the mark as someone like JRS. He also doesn’t seem to have that mentality of just enjoying skinning players - he overthinks and delays at times.

On the flip side, I think he’s got a really smart football brain - way better than JRS. He’s alert, positional astute in defence and seems to know what his options are going forward with his head up. He’s tidy in possession and pings a nice pass (something all our academy grads seem to have). Plus he’s turning into a bit of a beast physically. I’m surprised we haven’t played him in midfield this year. I think he would do well in the 2 if 4231 (Blasters role basically) or even better on the left of the first 3 in a 433.

Doesn’t look like Wilder fancies that through so I just hope he keeps his confidence and drive up in that wide right position. Great finishes for his recent goals and our right backs look much happier with him there than JRS. Longer term, Brooks and Seriki on the right looks like a very tasty combo, especially against the weaker teams.

Started the season well before fading and rightly losing his place to JRS.

Wilder said in an interview a few weeks back that the lad wasn't doing enough in training Monday to Friday, but is now starting to.

He's now back in the side, playing really well. End product to match and that RW shirt is currently his to lose.

Some people will use his absence from the side as a stick to hit Wilder with. For me it's good management and is a good developmental lesson for Brooks.

Let not rewrite history. Brooks didn’t lose his place to JRS after fading. He lost it on the 4th game of the season, as soon as JRS came in. The previous three games he’d be one of our best players and got an assist at Preston (sort of one at Norwich too, though it deflected of their player so not exactly).

His form only dipped once he was coming off the bench.

Given his early form, I reckon he (maybe rightly), sulked at being taken straight out of the team despite playing well, for a loanee.

Would the narrative of yesterday be different if we had lost the game because he didn’t track his player back, who scored the equaliser…..
What would the narrative for losing have been though as it was 1-1 at that point, so we wouldn’t have lost the game and obviously didn’t happen anyway.

A really great prospect. I think he is a lot better player than he himself realises and the best is yet to come.
