Was so pleased for Brooks today, just shows what confidence can do.

He started the season reasonably well when he was battling it out 50/50 with Rak-Sakyi but since JRS become 1st choice Brooks was never the same deciding to play safe side ways passing and show half hearted effort like he knew he was just a 2nd choice make shift player.

However today, he started much more positive, didn't always work but he was trying to take players on
but once he scored his first very well worked goal, his confidence and effort levels went through the roof.

It felt like was playing for a contract, even when he lost the ball, he was tackling back showing so much fight to win it back
and he did this successfully a few times. He worked so hard scrapping for everything and must have been knackered towards the end as he kept going down with cramp. No doubting he was our man of the match today. He was our only real goal threat. WELL DONE ANDRE !!!!

i hope he is 56 dont rate him and the last 4/5 games he played has looked totally disinterested send him back if we can weve got a better player in brooks

Disagree...until today and the Norwich away game Brooks has done almost nothing this season.
Don't know what wrong with him but it's like he's sulking or has personal issues because mentality he's not been at the required level.

JRS has been much more of an attacking threat however agree that in his last 2 or 3 matches JRS has struggled, almost a passenger
and Brooks is defensively better and more consistent defensively too but I'd still say JRS has potentially much more attacking threat.

Lets not build up Brooks after just 1 excellent performance, lets see how he progresses from this.
Hoping he does it and as mentioned by some other posters he's our player to develop, probably why many prefer Brooks over JRS.

Very pleased for Brooks today, but let’s not use it as a stick to beat JRS, it serves no purpose.

JRS got the shirt after Brooks wasn’t doing it in front of goal and seemed to lack confidence, despite starting ahead of JRS earlier in the season. So JRS deserved his run and has done well in games, often with sides putting 2 or 3 players down that side and without Seriki on the overlap to help out, it’s not been as easy for us, with Gilchrist being more conservative in his approach

Brooks today soon got 2-3 or 4 players on him down the right and whilst Gilchrist wasn’t getting forwards, O’Hare was linking up with him with the idea to play short sharp passing plays moving the ball quickly to get free, this was how the goal came about.

Second half he seemed to fade a bit until his booking and cramping up when he seemed to get a boost of energy and go again. It would’ve been good to get JRS or Seriki off the bench.

Good solid showing from Brooks but with another game in a few days away at Sunderland and then Watford soon after we will also need more cover and hopefully JRS is back soon

One for ancient blades like me!
Brooksy !Woody ! different style players with early career similarities.
Woody 1st came through the ranks in the early sixties a natural winger with dynamite in his boots ! Still not sure which foot he favoured but played on the right.
First saw him in a cuptie ( FAyouth cup) 17 year old beat forest 5-1 and he scored typical Woody screamer from well outside the box.Played Man utd next at old Trafford but lost 3-1.
His career developed slowly for a while from there as he shyed away from the rough stuff dished out to wingers in them days ! lacked maybe a bit of self beleaf ! (Brooksy!)
A fter a period of reserves and 1st team action he started to want it more! It's as though he'd been fed raw meat hunger and desire was there! Really he had just matured a bit and he flourished.
Brookes path is similar as he just needs that self beleaf and a push after being frozen out for a while.
It's early doors yet but really it's up to him now to impose himself on the game as he did yesterday.

Would like to see us develop the OHare Brooks link ups which looked promising yesterday, and bring Moore into it,working closer together as a three, in and around the box to create more clear cut chances, and leaving Moore less isolated in the box.JRS can come on when the game is possibly more stretched with more space to work in.

Brooks’s performance yesterday wasn’t that much different from those he turned in at the beginning of the season—he looked like our main creative spark then as well—with the important difference that he actually finished his chance. If his teammates could finish he would’ve had an assist or two to go with his goal.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like he might’ve sulked a bit after being dropped for JRS and stopped training at the level Wilder demands. Hopefully he can put that behind him and kick on now. He’s a real talent.

That is what I have been talking about imagine Brooks Hamer O Hare and Jes they would tear teams apart.

CW has to be more positive especially in the big games and go for it, our fans would be more forgiving if we have a go and lose as opposed to the dross we served up against Leeds, Boro, Burnley.

I thought brooks has looked really sharp in some early games, he’d have more assists if it were not for the waste of others. He set up McCallum at Hull. He’s been unlucky in other games not to score too. He’s one of only a couple of people that we have capable of carrying the ball to break the lines. I thought he’d have had more game time to develop how his attributes might fit the team.

I agree he looks better defensively. He makes some really good interceptions. Not sure how he is statistically but he’s often in the thick of it when we win the ball back.

Time to try this lad in central midfield. We are crying out for someone who can run with the ball and create something in the middle of the park. Davies and Peck are too similar and play too deep.

Brooks can take a man on, he can pass it and he can do the dirty work too. We've nothing to lose until we sign another midfielder.

Great goal, which made up for the poor miss earlier in the game. At the moment he looks like the player most likely to make something happen in the final third.

Think the early one was a tough chance, three quick touches all on his right foot.

The goal is fantastic and the performance overall was back to his best. Without it, we don't win.

Great finish and probably should have scored that chance he had earlier in the match as well.

You’re right, it needed really quick feet and the keeper was right up on him before he had chance to pick his spot. Still think it’s a really good chance but I’m not knocking him at all—he’s developing a habit of getting in good shooting positions and if he keeps it up the goals will come.

Delighted for Brooks, not least for proving some people wrong who felt that he wasn’t deserving of a place in the side because of a lack of end product. It’s been a no brainer for a long time for him to get proper minutes. We can benefit from his talents now with the state of our squad and he’ll benefit from the development.

Think he started the season really well and looked better than Jes. But Jes got better and Brooksey seemed to go off. Don't know why. One of Brooksey's weaknesses was he never seemed to "pull the trigger". Today that first chance he probably needed to it it first time. It was on his left foot but that's something you learn with experience and is debatable. His goal against WBA was outstanding as was his goal today. He clearly went to bend it and it was perfect. Have the coaches told him to shoot more often? I think he looks an outstanding and really exciting prospect and definitely has the ability to beat his man and run at defenders. I think potentially he is better than Jes but I don't profess to be an expert.

Class goal today! Wilder will be keen to punish that by dropping him to the bench again I'm sure.

Love it when people imagine something is going to happen just to react to it and get their preconceived opinions spill out.

How about the time out the side has taught him the level required and recently he's shown far more than he did in a fairly long spell he did have in the side.

Amazing finish that, love the Peter Beagrie celebration too! Was just concerned he'd land funny and twist his ankle knowing the luck we have with injuries!
