If you don't laugh you'd cry, I can see Seriki following him out of the door Wilder always was picking on them, always those two to blame if things went wrong. It will be full of flare in midfield next season for sure. I can see it now Wilders son-in-law and perfect Peck the master of the sideways and back pass ready to come on when Rothwell and Phillips are injured. Still Chong can play on the right Shackleton can be in too if not injured.

Good luck to Brooks I said last season he needed to move to progress something that was not going to happen under Wilder, Seriki needs to follow him, no point stopping at this club that has no ambition nor money by the looks of things.

I suspect there are a few fans who are having renewal remorse today. Me, I don't even get angry about it any more I'm just unfortunate to support a shit club who never win owt, a club with owners who are starting to look as bad as Mr Chansiri did for the pigs, owners that thick and clueless they brought back the busted flush Wilder.
Seriously, if you were Seriki, why would you want to stay?

Brooks comments when Selles came in:

“The new manager likes to coach a lot, so that's always good, for us as players to know what we need to do every day in training. I feel like it's been good. It's a lot different to last season. For example, he's coming and telling me what need to do. What his morals are, on the pitch and off the pitch. It's always good to have that as well.”

It's so obvious there was a rift and we all knew Brooks and Siriki would be off this window.

The best one was when Wilder blamed them both for the fa cup humiliation to Mansfield....after he brought them on at 4-1 down.
I thought Brooks and Seriki would be off this window. There seems to be loads surprised by this. After the Millwall game I replied to someone about their contracts and said I thought both should be offered massively increased deals as it would be the only way to keep them, but obviously it’s not my money being handed over if we end up with spiralling debts, so it’s easy for me to say that.

He was still wearing a knee brace 3 weeks ago which you’d think might have put a few buyers off a bit.

There are lots of possible theories about circumstances in which he might or might not have signed a new contract with us - including if Wilder wasn’t our manager, or we offered a vastly bigger / longer deal, … but the main one is surely - if we’d beaten Sunderland; in that scenario he’d have signed a new contract. Everything goes back to the game really.

Norwich's transfer activity last couple of seasons has been fantastic. Dark horses for automatics and I've no doubt Brooks will look better there than he ever did here. Good luck to him.
Of course he will - he'll be played on the left wing or central - not stupidly inverted which exposes his weak right foot.

Brooks, like most of the players these days, He probaly getting a higher wage.
That's good for him, rightly so. He moves on, good luck to the Lad.
However, having said that dint expect him to go to Norwich.
So the Owners should give the money for the incoming players.
To Chris Wilder, and hopefully, he can get a couple of decent players.

I can only think Brooks was refusing to extend. But even so, he’s a player on the cusp of being a serious proposition with a value only Prem teams could touch. Yet he’s gone to a team on a par with us financially.

Whatever the reason, this is a shock move where it’s hard to see any up side at all.
Norwich are not on a £ par with us.

For a start , they haven't pissed away money on shite like we have in recent years.

Money which has now run out so we've finished our "7 years of plenty" with barely a pot to piss in.

3 years of PL money and 4 years of parachutes
What have we got ?
A bang average half-baked squad and a field at Dore. A recruitment team that needs shooting.
And distant half-baked owners who gambled on a quick-flip and lost.
But according to Wilder , his pal Bettis is a great CEO.
The whole shebang is probably the most unprofessional outfit that's ever chewed it's way though £500m.
And no one at the Lane can think beyond the Bettis Wilder combo.
Inspiring eh ?

I wonder what Rak-Sakyi's price tag is these days? I'd take him as a replacement.

Unfortunately wilder didn’t really like him either!

I’m sure I’d read somewhere that Stoke had an obligation to buy him if promoted and an option if they weren’t at around 6-7m but can’t find it anywhere now and their official site just talks about a loan.

There is also the consideration here that it’s days like this that makes me proud to be a Blade.

Fact is this is how we are Sheffield United; all bills paid since 1889.

It’s what sets us apart from the other lot.

This is the medicine you take to meet your obligations.

We won’t be posting a worst in history of football season because of it.

Spot on this!
For all the talk of Norwich being more ambitious than us they sold their 4 best players for £40-60m last season including their best midfielder to Ipswich for £10m
Yes but they aren’t signing has beens/crocks on big money to replace them. That’s the ambition.

Firstly, I am just as annoyed as anyone else that Brooks has gone. But I keep seeing comments like this - the facts don't actually back this up:

Players signed by Wilder over the age of 30:

16/17:Leon Clarke (31), Mark Duffy (30), Jake Wright (30)
17/18:Clayton Donaldson (33)
18/19: Martin Cranie (31), David McGoldrick (30)
19/20: Phil Jagielka (36),
20/21:0
23/24 (Jan): 0
24:25: Kieffer Moore (31)
25/26: Bamford (32), Rothwell (31), Phillips (30)

I'd say the majority he has signed 30 or over has been a resounding success or at least very useful. Rothwell and Phillips probably his worst two of that list. Jagielka at 36 is something of an outlier. He's signed 3 players over the age of 31 in all his years with us.
What wouldn't we give to be signing a 30 year old David McGoldrick...ah well we can all dream .

Just read Brooks' insta post.

Does read to me like the decision to want to leave was kinda made before the end of the season. The comments about pulling on the shirt for the last time makes me think he knew he was likely off.

He has the decision whether to move or not: he cannot be forced to.
Clearly he chose to move to Norwich otherwise he would still be with us.
Why do you think he had no desire to move ?
What his move has to do with anyone supporting Wilder on here is erroneous.
I didn’t say “no desire “either. Everyone knew Wilder had not a great relationship with Brooks and Seriki,or are you not wanting to see that as well.

Wilder getting more like Trump every day, a total ego maniac who bombs out anyone who doesn't inflate his ego.
It goes back a long way.

PL under him first time. Lost away at Leicester and he gave the most arrogant post match presser ive seen and threw the team under the bus. 'Not me guv'.

He changed when he became a 'premier league manager' and then his fall in PL season 2 had a negative effect on him.

I sacked off the season ticket when he quit/ was sacked under his mate The Prince.

His getting back, when his mate Hecky was in the dugout out, said more than him & his clique might think.

He's old fashioned in a modern football world but has dropped on two boards now who he can baffle with his ridiculously boring clichés and 'pashun'.

We had great times 16-20 but that's done and gone.

Now, resigned to crossing fingers and hoping that he might relocate his mojo somehow, coupled with his and his recruitment team finding players that fit his mindset and culture (whatever the F that's supposed to be these days) is what we're reduced to.

Yesterday's club, trying to remain relevant with yesterday's man and an ownership equivalent of the Inbetweeeners at the helm is not a good look, and not one I'd be prepared to chuck ST cash at.

We should be better than this but we're being held back by ego, football naivety and cast in the past thinking.

Say what we like about S6 but, on the communication with fans side, they're schooling our lot, and some envious glances are now being cast across the city by those with a financial interest in our club.

This, IMO, doesn't end well.

If we sell Osula for potential, how do we not eclipse that with way, way, way more for Brooks, who had already started to perform at a first team level?!

Absolute fucking joke. I'm so fucked off about this.
Maybe a Premier League club thought that Osula had a higher ceiling.

Spot on ….. and keep reminding all your Wednesday fan colleagues / family! They hate it…. £25 million stolen from banks and local businesses across 2010 and 2026!!!!!

Didnt they have a huge amount of money wrote off previously also (by the Co-op Bank and a load of other small creditors when Mandacrook took over to the sty for a quid and then flipped em)?

Its their modus operandi. Run up huge debts by spending way over what they can afford, then when the shit hits the fan, they squeal and ask for help (usually after their all so lovable fans have been singing at and taking great delight in other club fans being in financial trouble i.e. Derby) and they get bought again for a nominal fee, pence in the pound and another set of people owed money by them are left high and dry. What a delightful club they are. Whats worse, is that the vast majority of them i speak to occassionally think 'its ok' as they can only see what 'Wensdei' need at that time. Before Mandcrook, they managed to burn through £17m of investment monies from Charterhouse in the 90s (though you could say thats their fault for investing in such an club).

Anyway, back on topic. Maybe the lad wanted to go as he didnt get on with Wilder and he knew if he signed for someone else for a big fee, he was a millionaire overnight. If so (i dont think he was going to sign a new contract if he was unhappy with CW) then the club is right to sell him now for what they can get. It just so happened it was Norwich who had cash on the hip right now. Disappointing yes, but hardly a disaster. Exciting player on his day with potential, but hardly a player that cant be replaced with someone similar (or heaven forbid, maybe better). As always, its about what we do with the money that Brooks sale will generate. Personally, id prefer that they used some of the money to start work at the Dore sight so that we eventually have a decent training centre to help attract other players.

Yes - that’s why it’s a total of £25 million (ignoring any debts to Chancer) - they had £18 million written off by Coop bank in 2010 and now £7 million not paid to local businesses as they exited Admin.

Where’s the twisting? You mean “pointing out facts”

Is it whining, or just pointing out the reality of the situation? I’m sorry I don’t live in fantasy land where everything’s all peachy.

Call it how it is. We’re a laughable excuse of a football club with absolutely no idea on how to progress or plan for the future.
Twisting is calling us tinpot for selling our best players but calling Norwich progressive for doing the same. You just keep wearing your negativity like a badge of honour.

I hate this selling of Brooks - but like it or not - we HAVE to balance the books and fill the void of no parachute money. I expected this sort of thing to happen & I fully expect a couple more sales - probably Peck & Hamer & maybe Hamer or Burrows. And don’t expect all of that transfer money to go back to Wilder - but some of it will help wages small fees as he wheels and deals to build a competitive squad. If he gets us in top 8 this season it will be amazing.

Spot on. Even a flirt with the play offs this season would do me

Seriously though, what do we need transfer money for? We’re pretty bad at spending big sums anyway!

We have a large amount of contracted players right now. We should be able to complement them with the odd loan, free or at best minimal spend.

If Walker wants to come, he can make noises to tear up his contract at 36.

If Souttar wants to come he can hold out at worst, to being loaned out for the season with an obligation based on promotion.

It seems Phillips and City want to make that move happen.

Of other linked players, Villa will be happy to loan out Dobbin. Watson would be a loan and so would Clarke. Brereton-Diaz is out of favour at Saint so could be a loan or modest fee. They might even just tear up his contract.

Options out there for the minimal additions we will bring in.

I have been told this by an employee of another EFL club who had spoken with Knilly in his job search.
Thanks mate. I know through a good friend of mine that Knilly is a very honest a principled man, so I could see this being the case (although I’m not saying it is).
