What would happen if Coutts checked this site, saw that and thought Fuck it... I hate these bastards I'm off to sign for the pigs
Do you check under the bed and in the wardrobe for bogeymen?
Yes as if Carlos would have got his career back on track. He must be so grateful to the club and the fans for sticking by him. What would happen if Coutts checked this site, saw that and thought Fuck it... I hate these bastards I'm off to sign for the pigs
The problem with Coutts at the time was that he was clearly a step up from the rest of your ge team in terms of quality, but most of the time he looked like he couldn't be arsed. Looking back, maybe that was due to ongoing effects from his injury and lack of pre-season training.
The thing that really stands out for me though was an article with a Scottish newspaper where he was laughing about not being able to stick to the diet the club had set him, and I do remember thinking 'what a wanker'.
All credit to him and Wilder for turning it around. I have no doubt he'd be able to cut in the PL now.
Whoever voted for Coutts must not have had the ability to predict the future. A vote for him after his performances and lack of effort that season was entirely justified.
I find it bizarre that people keep dredging up threads in an attempt to prove that people were wrong about Coutts. They weren't wrong. He was underachieving massively at the time.
He's playing well now - as he has done for over a year - and is a vital part of the team. I'm glad we have him. But the idea he's always been like that is laughable.
We’re uncomfortable with quality here in S2. We much prefer the parochial familiarity of shadow-chasing ragamuffins who can’t play football.

There was no ‘lack of effort’ but rather lack of match fitness.
That’s fairly speculative – the truth was we simply couldn’t tell, and the likelihood in my opinion was that it was both. His turnaround wasn’t simply him turning it on with a return to match fitness – he made a clear effort to up his game. Wilder has alluded to that when asked about the turnaround.
There’s no real problem with suggesting Coutts didn’t fancy it that season under Adkins, as very few in the team seemed to.
We should all be grateful that we have a Rolls-Royce of a footballer gracing the Desso and at the heart of our excellent team. Vice-captain too, which speaks volumes for what Tufty thinks of him.
If only he chased aimlessly all over the pitch like a carrier bag in a gale and regarded the football as a temporary nuisance to be offloaded anywhere to anybody, eh?

You could also ask who voted for our owners? Huh! Only putting enough money in to sustain a league 1 team's promotion challenge.Who voted for our midfield genius?
Pinchy, I've no real problem with you promoting yourself as some sort of football expert (God knows - no one else will) but why can you only promote yourself by slagging off others?Equally, there’s no real problem with suggesting that in S2 we have far more than our fair share of unsophisticated, parochial dullards who don’t know quality when it’s in front of their eyes.
Jesus Christ,it's banter.Whoever voted for Coutts must not have had the ability to predict the future. A vote for him after his performances and lack of effort that season was entirely justified.

Does constant, repetitive, gratuitous insult make you feel superior?![]()
Equally, there’s no real problem with suggesting that in S2 we have far more than our fair share of unsophisticated, parochial dullards who don’t know quality when it’s in front of their eyes.
He was a high quality player recovering from a major injury, as some of us pointed out at the time and continue to point out. There was no ‘lack of effort’ but rather lack of match fitness, as some of us pointed out at the time and continue to point out.

Hang on, aren’t we in danger of contradictory imagery within our S2 metaphors? Static traffic cones or energetic carrier bags?
Whenever I read thing like this, I feel grateful for the ignore button.
I hope someone remembers to remind the football expert that he disapproved of and ridiculed the appointment of Chris Wilder as our manager. What did he call it? Bladey Bladey parochialism or something?
Yes your right we should all be grateful that he realised the fans who were calling for him to up his game had a point. The fans who were making the same points as Chris Wilder should be praised. And your also right that he now runs around with much more purpose and plays far less long balls straight out of play rather than that carrier bag you describe or the road cone you used to post as a pictorial representation of him.We should all be grateful that we have a Rolls-Royce of a footballer gracing the Desso and at the heart of our excellent team. Vice-captain too, which speaks volumes for what Tufty thinks of him.

Where Coutts was concerned, even those that wanted him gone at the end of 05/06 would say that there were signs of a good player
