6 month deal. Not sure how I feel about that but I'm guessing that gives him the option to find a better salary in the summer. Whilst it's prudent business, it's also another alarm bell in terms of our salary structure.

Yeah, I thought that, bit odd to offer someone with 6 months left a 6 month deal. But he's here and obviously fancies it. He's effectively on a paid trial.

Probably be sensible from both sides and sounds like there’s an option to extend.

He might not have wanted a longer deal if he can’t get the shirt offWes.

That said 250k (as reported) for potentially 6months seems a pretty short term fix which could have been a loan move?

I found that bit very bizarre. There's either a superb reason for the structure of the deal otherwise or it's complete stupidity.

Or a prudent deal for Club and Player, 6 months to make an impression, get in the team, more than a few happy to criticise Wes for not being good enough, or a statement of intent re promotion, if Davies can't prove he is better then why offer a 3 year deal

Might be an injury issue.
We may want a good look at his form .
May have another up our sleeve.

If we can sign longer term if we want to all cards in our favour.

Surely good for the club considering how crap Olson turned out ?!

It means we've taken essentially over his contract, but de-risked ourselves from a long-term commitment if it doesn't work out for whatever reason. Having the option to extend protects us from another club nipping in.

This sort of deal isn't as rare as you might think. Josh King and Demarai Gray left Bournemouth and Leicester in this way although neither move worked out and they moved again soon after. No-one lost out.

We’d have likely paid more than 250k in loan fees for any kind of reputable keeper. I shudder to think what we paid up front as a loan fee for 6 months of Olsen hopefully we were at least partially refunded as the loan was cut short

I'm not writing him off, but it's alarming how far we've fallen in such a short space of time in terms of the type of signing we're looking at and as a fanbase are happy with.

We already feel like a club who's parachute payments have ran out. We're the skintest recently relegated PL club I remember.

Because we gambled (spunked moneh) so hard in the PL. We had to stay up last season. No two ways about it. We'll be screwed if we don't get up next season.
Yep - we're fucked long term if we don't get back up. But I can't possibly see it, we have the highest average age in the league this season and our established key players aren't getting any younger (or better).

I'm not sure about next season, I think we're pretty screwed if we don't go up this season. Prince is staring down the barrel of some chunky losses and he doesn't have the cash to fund a loss making Championship club. We've mortgaged the physical assets and the receivables already. I think he'll be desperate to sell after this season, even if he has to pretty much give it away

We can only have five loanees in any Matchday squad. We have three at the moment (Hourihane, Gibbs-White and Ben Davies). Presumably it's better for us to retain the flexibility on the loan front and sign Davies (the keeper) as a permanent.

We can only sign those who are available. I don’t see a list of better keepers that we could have signed even with more money, this month.Maybe in the Summer.

Could be a good shout!

That said I’d be surprised to see 2 more players between now and Monday really.
