No time for bed-wetting! We're two wins of top 8 and nothing I've seen in the league over the past few weeks suggests we can't put a run together...

We've not become a bad team overnight and have full confidence we'll be reyt...

And only two teams have conceded less than us !

If we're doing positivity, I'd add that in our 5 games this season we've conceded the same number of goals that reigning champions Liverpool did against Villa in 71 minutes.

Unlikely to be the case in three games time unfortunately.

And then we have another international break.

If next month was a porno it would be called 'Double Penetration' & we'd be some poor stepdaughter that's decided to stay home for the day....

Right, that's enough internet for me.

...as the Harlem Globetrotters stop by to clean the pool???

Ok
We are 2 wins away from 8th, but realistically we are in a relegation battle.
If you dont score goals you dont win matches..
Not normally critical of Wilder but we have spent 40+ million on 2 strikers 1 who just cant score goals in this division not critical of his work ethic as he puts a shift in,the other a young lad who has no experience to draw on at all ,probably will be a good player in the future.
Where does that leave us ?
IN THE SHIT
We must have known O'connells injury could have been a bad one (cruciate) but didnt bring in cover pre-season.O'connell never got up to speed after lockdown the writing was on the wall then,I can only assume we gambled on him being fit as we needed to strengthen the squad in a number of places.
Still beleave in Wilder! After next 3 games we could need a Bassett style recovery,Wilder was in that squad so hopefully some of it rubbed off on him.
The top division is a different ball game compared to 30 years ago ,a lot harder now.

Shit or bust time for me. Yes we need to defend collectively but we’ve got to go to Liverpool and Man City and give it a go.
If you just hand the ball to these teams invite them onto us..... we will ultimately lose the game.
I am quite prepared to see us lose at Anfield and the Etihad so as we try and give em a game.
Having a greater share of ball in games like this can only help our confidence as the season progresses.

I think in the current situation we find ourselves in we should treat these games as FA cup ties.

We play city at the lane ! Yes I agree should never go into a game with a negative attitude .Wilder wouldnt allow that anyhow.Sam Allardyce admitted to doing that at Bolton even playing a weakened team he did keep Bolton up doing it that way.when he left they went down.
Not in Wilders DNA to do that and I agree with that.

You may be right of course but none of those 3 teams look particularly special so far this season.

Liverpool have lost their defensive lynchpin and are playing a sub standard keeper (and yes, I am fully aware that some will level the same charge at us).

Chelsea can't defend for toffees.

Man City (rather like us) look a bit lost at the moment, compared to how they looked last season.

It's 2020, the year when the world went truly mad. Anything can happen.

The location doesn’t seem to matter in these times.

We became a bad team once last season got back underway. We're not breaking into the top half this season.

Correct. The fixture list hasn't been kind to us with the next 3 games, we need to get some confidence and those games aren't the ones we need.

But, if we look at the table after 5 games last year. Wolves didn't have a win and Bournemouth were third

That's fair enough but we do need to avoid getting tonked by several goals in one or all of the next three matches - goal difference will be crucial at season's end. Going all out is ok IF we manage to either win one of them or at least get a couple of draws.

Very true but there does seem to be a psychological difference, home teams seem more vulnerable as they are more attack minded than the away team and without the support of the home crowd to keep up the intensity or pressure they are more vulnerable.
Let's hope we can take advantage of that at Liverpool, ! clutching at straws and all that a drowning man does.

At least we got a point on the board. I'm hoping CWAK and the squad use the time up till next international break to get us back playing with confidence.

If ever a team needed a lucky break such as yesterday's dodgy penalty it was us. A defeat yesterday would have been disastrous.

Yeah nobody expects us to even lay a glove on them. The most likely outcome is that we park the bus and still lose. Playing attack versus defence must be so physically and mentally draining for team all the time. The way Fulham in the second half turned beleaguered defence into meaningful attack so quickly made my heart sink as we can only dream of such quick, counter attacking football at the moment.
