You have to leave a minimum of 6 players in from your previous league game.....
So still a chance to blood 'some' youngsters.

Will we ever get a Home draw for anything!?

Don't you think it'd be a let down if this was at home though?

Only one stand would be opened, a lackluster atmosphere and a dull game would almost be inevitable.

Away from home the ground being at capacity is more likely, and gives us a chance to visit another new ground.

yeah teams need to keep "a minimum of 6 players in from your previous league game" its to stop teams devaluing the competion by playing weakened team and correct if im wrong but i do think that a team thrown out last season for breaking that rule

im annoyed at the draw because Paul Peschsolido is 1 of my favourite players ever since 98 & also he gave me my best moment as a fan when he scored that goal v notts forest in play off semi & i would normally support pesch but when blades go to burton albion we will win & have to knock him out

Good chance to let him know we appreciated what he did for us. Sing his name and then beat him OTE=supermorgs;358408]yeah teams need to keep "a minimum of 6 players in from your previous league game" its to stop teams devaluing the competion by playing weakened team and correct if im wrong but i do think that a team thrown out last season for breaking that rule

Minimum of 6 from the last game? I presume that doesn't include injured players?

No interest in this competition whatsoever. And if we can't play a side full of youngsters its an entirely pointless competition, so the sooner we're out the better. One target and one target only this season - Automatic promotion. Worry about cup runs when we're in the Championship

Dear oh dear! Just have a look at some of the winners of this Mickey Mouse competition and its predecessors. They have gone on to win play offs and generally learnt to become winners when it matters, something United fail to do. Win it Blades and give some of us the chance to see us win something at Wembley before we drop dead from waiting and old age!

For anyone who is not working on the day, and can get to Burton early - the Bass Brewery tour is well worth doing.

after my recent move to our lasses place, it's only a 20 minute car ride away for me. Was planning on going to watch Burton on the odd occasion that we were away and I wasn't going and they were at home, so pair the Blades away at Burton and I'm a happy chappy.

yeah i want to win this trophy becasue if were in it might as well as lets face it JPT is our best for a trophy for a long time & i love a trip to wembley. but am expecting the football league to change rules of JPT as surely football league wil be hoping Sheffield Utd & Sheffield Wednesday get to final, but thats impossible under the north & south section

as can only remberer 3 finals utd have been in & we have all lost 3 97 v Palace (vaguely) 02 v wolves & 09 V burnley. i just like to go to wembley see us win & i dont care whether its the Champions League Final or JPT Final

Will be good to see Pesch and sing his name. OMG.....OMG.....OMG>>>

Pirrelli stadium will be a new one on the list.
Is it pristine or does it look a little tired? Is it nicely appointed or does it have an inflated opinion of itself? Hoping the surroundings are tidy otherwise we may have to tread carefully. We need to start brightly and quickly get a grip. Would be nice to get 1-6 as a minimum, especially considering that 3 points are not at stake. My guess is that Slew will be MOT Match. Should get warmed up and put in a good performace to cap it all off, hope it will be valve for money.

Wouldn't be too bothered if we flopped out of this at the first hurdle, but admittedly would be nice to see us go all the way. As previously pointed out, would be nice to see us lift something at Wembley.

Trouble is, with an already packed calendar, another potentially 7 fixtures (what with area quarters, semis, and 2-legged finals) could really take a lot out of the squad. And with promotion sole priority it might be an unwanted distraction. Hence, it wouldn't bother me if DW let this one take a backseat.

Pirelli - on the Calendar for a few Blades fans no doubt.

Nice to see Slew get his season off the mark yesterday. However, I don't think he's yet scored a 'clean' goal at the top level. His two towards the end of last season were a scuffed shot that bobbled in and deceived the keeper, and a deflected shot.

Yesterday, another deflection.

Still, if you don't have a crack, you'll never score - and he seems to get his shots on target on a regular basis. However, I echo the comments elsewhere that we shouldn't expect too much from him this season. He's got a lot of learning and growing up to do and I hope Cressy will stay long enough to help him.

I want 'em to set the date :)

If it's on Tuesday 30th, we face the prospect of a mini-Blades tour seeing as we've booked time off work. Liverpool on Wednesday 24th , then down to Yeovil and Cheddar until Tuesday 30th and calling in at Burton on the way back to Sheffield :D

There was one from the edge of the box that was well struck (vs Bristol City?)

I know it will be controversial but I couldn't care less about this competition. Why risk injuries for a mickey mouse competition? Put the reserves out and see how far they can go but don't risk the first team. We've been to wembley. Promotion will not be easy ( if at all ) never mind a run in a lower league cup to get in the way.

I believe that good cup runs are a measure of confidence and positive attitude.
Most successful teams have a decent cup run, regardless of what compo it is in and it breeds a winning mentality.
Most players only focus is actually playing football - its the managers that worry about what tactics and what compos to work at.
This Winning mentality is not something you can turn on or off like a tap and whilst you can play the development squad in some matches I think we need some of this successful attitude to engender a spirit of not losing, regardless of who we are up against.
