Playing great but missing loads of chances and not being able to keep a clean sheet.......heard that one before

Why does anyone inside United bet on us keeping a clean sheet? It's so fucking obvious.

As for putting chances away, we could have been 5 points clear at the top with a bit more quality in front of goal I think(?). It's getting ridiculous, strikers must lick their lips if they look at United thinking how many goals they could get.
 
i've kept quiet about this for a long time 'cos i love Chris.. but his substitutions are bonkers.

Got to agree, 4 mins added time and he brings on Coutts and leaves Sharp sat on his arse?!? Like you say bonkers!

Tonight was a great illustration of where we are. A really good side who play great football but one who don't have enough quality up front and have absolutely no idea what so ever how to manage a game. It's frustrating because we are so close to being genuine challengers but a promotion team wouldn't play that well in the past 2 games and only pick up a point.
 
Unless Sharp was not fit, this was a poor selection decision, and the sad thing about it is that Wilder keeps making it with the same results.

We have not won when Sharp hasn't played.

FFS look at the big picture. Look at who we are, where we have come from and the little amount of cash we have spent to get here.

Would you all still be moaning about the subs had that free kick bounced back off the wall? NO of course not.

Just be a tad realistic for a change!

I would say 5/6 points lost in 2 games. We can't convert seriously good posession and don't know how to see a game out. Training ground routines needs some work.

Erm, I am. The free kick went in. How 'realistic' do you want this? See also, Elliott drifting between two supposedy quality centre backs to side-heel the ball past our keeper in mid air, unchallenged.

Is that fantasy stuff, or 'real'?

FFS look at the big picture. Look at who we are, where we have come from and the little amount of cash we have spent to get here.

Spending a little amount of cash is not an excuse for blowing a game where you're clearly the better team. And if you are a cash strapped team you don't leave out your leading goalscorer out when you don't have anyone else near his quality.
 
Washington coming on before that, I don't know what he's trying to prove.

Poor mans Matt Done.

His job when he comes on is to run the channels and give us an out ball when we are defending late on. His running around like a headless chicken contributed to countless aimless balls straight to a Stoke centre half.

Of course it’s not all his fault but when he’s playing alongside a centre forward who is absolutely knackered he has to put a shift in and he just didn’t.

We didn't last season so I doubt it. I don't know enough to say whether it is a mental thing or a tactical thing but you look at the points we threw away last season and the Swansea, Bristol City, Derby and Stoke games this season then it's easy to see something is lacking. We also went crazy against Millwall and Preston but managed to pull it round.

As well as we played tonight we were asking to concede for our reaction after the goal. It's baffling how we can go from being so dominant and in control to suddenly whacking it anywhere in the blink of an eye.

Boro won't keep fucking up, like we do. WBA will see this as a clear opportunity and soon, we may find ourselves not in the two automatic spots, but in the fucking playoff mix, just where we don't want to be. And as if last season wasn't a lesson in kind, we are one injury away from slipping further down the stack, given our inability to take the sword out and issue the death stroke to struggling and underperforming teams like Stoke City.

I agree 2 points lost. Played to Sharps strengths, and didn't play him. Four times in first half the ball was played into the areas where he does his bit. Law of averages. We'd have gone in at half time maybe 2 up. Another similar chance second half.
Feels like a loss, team did enough to win except score more obviously. Sucker punch equaliser.
 
We can manage games by still playing our game, no other way I can see from the outside.

Keep going at them, making yourself available for forward passes, draw the opposition back into their own half, maybe make a chance. Subs should facilitate that, Johnson and Washington would have been good subs, Leon would be a good shout for keeping it up in their half if he's not starting.

Not a meltdown worthy game, we've not lost ground yet, but definitely along with Derby needs to be a learning experience.

Opposition can't score from their own box. Get around it.

Yes, but then they'd look at their wages and think, fuck that. That's why we've ended up with a strike force and a creative midfielder that can't last 90 minutes or play twice in a week

Similarly, had we switched on from the kick off an maintained our drive thereafter into the second half against Derby, we'd have been top, by five.

Not entirely clear how you can't take the happy-clappy blinkers off and see that?

Wasted opportunities, which might just mean summat next May. If we are banking on that five points next May then we might end up in the playoffs. And we are dead good at the playoffs, aren't we?
