Think Leeds will win it.

Monday is going to be tough.
Qpr away won't be easy.

Just get us 7 clear with 2 to play.

Weirdly, while I want to win promotion I'm just not fussed about going up. The Premier League just doesn't excite me. Maybe I'm scarred from our last season there.
Think we're all scarred mate, from last season, but sadly we lose all our best players if we don't get promoted.... money, money, money, sadly!

Not again....

Where would we be without the two point deduction? My bet is bottom end Championship or League 1.

If the Prince had chosen to sell Ndaiye and/ or Berge at Christmas, in order to make the repayments on time and so avoid the two point deduction, we would almost certainly have missed out on promotion to the Premier League. We would then have been in a horrendous financial situation, resulting in a firesale of marketable assets, followed by squad rebuilding on an absolute shoestring, and over- reliance on youth.

Thanks to the judgement shown by the Prince, we got promoted, came back down with parachute payments, got two points deducted, and can now afford the squad that is currently sitting top of the Championship.

If we do miss out on promotion by two or less points, then I will regret the deduction less than the two points we threw away against QPR, the pathetic show against Hull, etc, etc. Without the actions resulting in that deduction, we wouldn’t even be in a place to compete.
I agree with your philosophy , but am curious to know why we failed to make payment of that instalment.

Was it :

1)Not lack of £ but sheer oversight ?

2)Lack of £ ?

If lack of £ , what prevented the Prince from lending the club enough to tide us over ? (it was paid eventually , so the £ which paid it , could have instead been repaid to him) so was it :

3)FFP rules?

4)Prince literally could not spare another penny to lend to the club ?

WIthout knowing the reasons , it's very hard to understand why we would ever decide to incur a deduction.

None of us will ever know, but my own opinion is 2) and 4), based on common sense.
We will never know the truth, and I don't see value in speculating further to find other imaginary things about which to beat up the Prince or the Club.

Saying Berge was a failure is an absolute joke, as is mentioning Cannon already. Mousset, Bogle and Mcburnie weren’t failures either.
Well, we'll have to disagree with what we both consider a £20 million or £10 million signing as being a success is.

To be honest I championed Berge more than anyone on this forum, we just couldn't figure out his best position, and when we did we still didn't play to his strengths.
But a good three months from Mousett does not represent good value, Bogle was shit and McBurnie had 4 years of extreme averageness/ to poor even though half of his time here was spent in the Championship

Callum Robinson and Luke Freeman cost £14 million between them which I'd suggest is decent money, and neither did anywhere near enough to justify the cost

Jesus Christ, I hope not
Can you imagine Wilder with a couple of hundred million burning a hole in his back pocket?

Let's have a look at the players he's signed for more decent money. Callum Robinson, Mousett, Berge, Brewster, McBurnie, Luke Freeman, Bogle, Lowe, Burke,

Then add more than decent wages to loan signings and freebies, Besic, Ampadu, Jagielka, Morrison, Rodwell,

And Tommy Cannon looking like he's about to keep up Wilder's 0% success rate with money track record at the moment.
Do you feel like you're alone jj
Do you have a soul mate ?

I was chuffed to bits when we signed Berge. I thought it was the start of Utd finally looking at cementing their place in the Premiership with quality players.
Unfortunately as always quality doesn’t seem to fit with us.

You need cloggers and players ready to run for miles to fit Wilderball.

Players like Hamer will come and go much like Ndyie.
They just too good for us but don’t worry they can be replaced by some expensive British lionheart.

Only way to get out this scenario is to look at what most clubs have done and look abroad for managers who look for technique, composure and professionalism.

You're talking waffle mate tbh.

Berge and McBurnie (our top scorer for the season) were both instrumental in our promotion season under Hecky... Transfer fee - depending on source - varies, but we'll say £40m for the pair.

Promotion to PL = 170m

Plus the parachute payments we are still receiving. Not to mention the goals Oli contributed towards us finishing 9th, thus receiving more money. The same for Mousset, he played an important role that season. £30m doesn't get you a Wayne Rooney anymore, you need to adjust your expectations.

Going up this time around for me could well be exciting. With new owners it will be interesting to see how much they are in it for. Transfer kitty etc. The aim will obviously be staying up. Then what? Will there be investment in the stadium? Cat 1 academy? It could take us to a new level?

First priority though is winning our next game

I reckon you're right.

But it's a simple question which the soft sycophants on RS should have put to the Prince in his farewell interview.

I'm not looking to beat anyone up , just always like to know more than I should.

I know we've thrown more than 2 points away this season but we've also stolen & shithoused quite a few more.

It feels like he deduction is bound to come into our promotion fate.

Along with things like selling James Beattie , Ched going to jail , Simmo's penalty ,
And many other stories which have one saying "Only dem Blades" could suffer such bizarre events 🤣

The deduction is bound to come into our promotion fate, but it will not be the sole (or even the major) determinant of it, as some on here seek to believe.
As you say, it is certainly never boring being a Blade! We seem to attract more than our fair share of bizarre events.

9 more wins from the last 11 = 100 points.

Had a look through the fixtures and looked like Burnley have a few tough away games in comparison. Leeds also have a few tough ones coming up.

I'm predicting we'll have clinched second before we play Burnley 😉

Coventry are in scary form right now. They have us and Burnley back to back in a few weeks. Going to be interesting. Luckily we have them at home and Burnley has to go to Coventry.

A team I wouldn't want to face in the playoffs right now. Could be a dark horse for winning the playoffs.

We are consistent..over 2 points per game all season.11 to go same consistancy 22 to 24 points to come so 7 /8wins and a draw 2 losses gives us 95 to 97 points ...more than enough in championship history for 1 of 2 autos, stay calm and plod on. More likely that 93 would be enough

It's also really important we don't lose at Burnley.
Our record against the top four is really poor, it can't continue or we'll hand them the initiative.
