back in reading past loads of brum still at the pub at the station the lucky swine. onwards and upwards blades.

Saw some drunk brummies when passed through Reading station at 6pm. :( Today was a party that never happened. Came out of Thornton Heath tube to hear hundreds of Blades singing outside the Wetherspoons, fancy dress, loads of flags.....but was not to be. Dreadful ref didn''t give us owt, B'ham benefitted from a Phillips goal that looked offside on news just now (and text from Reading fans in the game said they gifted them the first goal, then the 2nd was offside). Have to try and do it the hard way now, but Preston will be tough after getting in the playoffs on the last day through a great run.

we must have been on same train. would rather have preston in the play offs than either of the other two though. christ knows we'll probably find some way to turn it all to cock though.

To be fair, i'd rather Blues go up than Reading, it would of hurt badly today if Reading had done it with their plastic fans.

we must have been on same train.

The slow train from Clapham Jct? Saw a group of Blades on the platform, one of them in tweed carrying a foxes head he'd had on for the match....

As we got further away from the match afterwards, the fancy dress must have been a bit confusing for the public at large. Like when a couple of guys dressed as nuns came into the pub near Clapham Jct station where we were having a beer before the Reading train. ;)

Poor performance in the end from us in my opinion.

I'm not dissappointed that we haven't gone up, but I'm dissappointed we didn't do what we had to do, we never gave ourselves a chance to go up.

I wouldnt say it was a poor performance, we made plenty of chances, their keeper made good saves, we hit the post and this morning i counted 7 penalty decisions we should of had.

Defensively we were fine, cotts had a good game, henderson didnt have much of a chance from having to put up with gbh all game.

The only negatives yesterday for me were Quinn and Halford (again)

im worried. going into the playoff and not scored from open play since the reading match!

Same old long ball again, even when hendo went off.

it's a lesser chance when your failing to put the ball in the net. goals win you games.

I agree with that. Whilst the ref was awful, we didn't play particularly well. Too much long ball all the time, or relying on Cotterill to conjure something up.

In these sort of games, I would say defence really counts as there are likely to be few goals. I'd rather save all our luck for the play-offs. We are hard to beat and have more than one person who can score, so they can't simply take Beattie (James) out.

With regards to the utter cock sat a few rows behind me yesterday moaning when a Monty pass went astray, it's simple. Monty passed the ball a lot. Not every pass will be on target, but a great deal more than half were. Small Quinn touched the ball about five times, and looked as effective as tits on a fish. Why a player like Hendrie isn't in for Quinn beggars belief. Didn't Blackwell say something like a player only keeping the shirt if they were putting in the performances?

And without wanting to get shot for double posting, thanks again to the Brothers Chuckle for enlightening and entertaining us on the way down, before, during and after the match.
Cheers chaps. Same again next year?

Poor performance overall.

We had the opportunity to go out and attack palace, we knew we were in the play offs and this could have been a performance we know we're capable of.

As it stands, we were poor in most departments and could easily have conceded 3/4 goals in second half....

see you there :D

Not sure the performance was that poor. Difficult to tell when the referee is so poor that it totally skews the game and result. If he'd have given any of those penalties or generally protected Henderson properly we'd have won by a hat-full and none of us would be complaining. Just hope that Blackie and co now devise a workable Plan B to use the next time the ref stuffs up Plan A (Henderson's Head) - it's not like Sunday was the first time!!

Here's me and Kevin McCabe outside the ground. He's a jolly nice fellow!
