I can't for the life of me see why people would feel the need to boo Berge. He was one of the key players in the run in. Yes he was maddeningly inconsistent, but when he was on top of his game, he was a joy to watch.
That clip highlights all the hallmarks of why Berge isn't a DM. Half hearted attempts to get the ball. Runs around a bit in the vague area of opposition players, but not close enough to actually stop them receiving the ball, tracks back into the area, but doesn't actually pick anyone up.
Berge was consistently very good at the end of last season when played in an advanced position. Since we've played him advanced in one game then deeper in the next.
It's not rocket science why we're not getting the best out of him.
His best assist last season didn't go down as one.
That perfectly timed long ball to drop on Baldocks foot in the Burnley win, that ended up as a Mcburnie goal.
Now this is a straw man. I'm not saying Berge is shit, far from it. But I think most people, would consider a European championship final to be a higher standard of football than a champions league group game.
Exactly. If he needs a run of 90 minutes to get him up to speed, then that's what the development squad is for, not the first team where we possibly have options that can make an immediate impact.
