i wanted carrick silent and posted that on this forum after a good start where he stabilised us were now seing the wilder that failed at boro and watford hes not going to take us any further real long shot and know i will be ridiculed on here but rosenior isnt going to last much longer at chelsea i would love us to bring him in chelsea was just too big a job for him

One thing you get from Wilder is honesty. In the post match interview Wilder raised a couple of points he needed to address including fitness of team, youth of team and defence frailties. I am sure he sees what we see and these will be top of the list ready for next season.

We're entering a rebuild phase. In that respect, the question for the board is not whether Wilder is the manager for the next 12 months, but whether he is the man for the next three years. Is he able to effectively oversee a transformation of the club, bring the next generation of youth through, work with Bettis/the board to put in place and use new approaches to scouting, training, etc?

My gut says he probably isn't, but more than that I want the board to make a decision and stick to it. Like some others I'd probably have chosen Carrick after Selles, I don't really know enough about the other alternatives to say who is the right person for us.

He'll be given the summer to shape the team in his image (with the pennies we find behind the sofa) regardless of what happens from now until the end. His job was "save our arses" and he's achieved that.

Long term though, I do think it's important for us to find a way forward without him. Can't think of any other club in modern times that's been so dependant on a single manager.

I’m not a fan by any means, but I’m not calling for him to go now or at the end of the season.

Really, next season is set up perfectly for him and has a number of parallels with 2016. A squad in need of a major overhaul and not having loads of money to spend on it beyond what he can generate from player sales. That’s what he’s supposed to be good at and this will be when we get to see whether any of the Wilder Mk1 magic is still there in a broadly comparable set of circumstances to when he first came in, the first time in the last 10 years we have been in such a situation.

It will go one of two ways. Either we will be looking like contenders or he will be gone before Christmas with only a few months left on his contract. And I can’t see any sort of rush from the owners to extend his contract at this point, the clock is ticking and the jury is very much out.

It will be fascinating to see how it all develops. At least being a Blade is never dull.

The main worry with that is the continuing issue of many players seemingly unable to complete 90 minutes. Plus we don’t need signings like Ings.

What worries me is the confidence that wilder can pull rabbits out of hats next season and sign low cost, energetic, talented players who have 'gone under the radar' of other clubs and forge a decent team. His recent record doesn't suggest that at all.

Comment of the season

I found it random that Wilder "found Guilherme Ramos", I know he had been at Forest previously but he like you quite rightly point out isn't a Wilder mould. Playing and coaching wise he has had such a random journey but you wonder what he brings to the set-up. But saying that Micky Collins has had a random start to management too.

I just think we need to look at the context of everything.

When we talk about Wilder you obviously think about all his tenure's here not just this season. But for me you have to just measure this season.
IF we had brought in say a Steve Cooper in mid September and he had delivered the same results, and we are now looking at missing out on the playoffs.
Would we see this as a season we missed an opportunity but ultimately we aren't going down and early doors this season we looked the worst side in the division? I don't think some would be calling for their head in this scenario.
The fact is Wilder is meaning he isn't being measured by the same metric for better or worse. And I think some were waiting for us to stutter to come back out of the woodwork.

This season it has to be thought about in the grand scheme of things.
Last summer looking back was arguably a worse summer of prep for a season than the summer of 2023.
The management were poor and set poor standards. And the players signed simply not enough are up to improving or building a capable enough squad.
Yes the squad still shouldn't be in a relegation scrap but it was and it was until about the end of November.

Since Christmas we have seen our team become Mr inconsistent though.

Yes there are many players in this team that were signed under Wilder or played under him last season. But there were 12 signings made last summer (2025) by Selles.
Of these signings only Tanganga and Bindon are holding starting places. With Chong, Soumare and Ings sometimes appearing from the bench most weeks.

The quality of the overall squad or in particular depth isn't super strong. First 11 is good though.
Yes you can point to the January window but it's not usually a window you sign more than about 5 players unless you have plenty of cash. Can't say that those signed are pulling up many tree's. Although Bamford and Reiedewald are good signings.

This summer is going to see some changes and turnover in squad. There will be some sales of key players and we are going to have to use all markets well.
Sure we could get rid of Wilder again and try something new. I'd counter that with who could we be confident enough to take on that challenge?
I personally would rather see us have a bit of stability over the summer and give Wilder a crack start of next season.

Haven't you noticed, how Anthony Gordon has gone from being a very pacey young winger, to a bloke who now falls down whenever he gets in the box.

He doesn't get called out for it, because he's English, but in my book he is a cheat and teaches his teams to do likewise.

Sunderland & Leeds have a technical board and have cracked the code to building a strong championship club that can beat the drop in the premier league.

There are many more examples of it working than of it not working. Provide one example where the manager being the ‘club’ manager and running the whole thing via and old boys network has brought stable success?

Not arguing with your basic point, it's your opinion, which is fine. However, can you really call 1 year in prem and avoiding the drop to be "stable success"? We avoided the drop first season back in PL.
