Surely any well functioning club is hawking Peck around trying to get as close to £20m for him as we can, knowing we have Soumare as the next cab off the rank to be the next asset we sell for considerable profit.

As I've said elsewhere, what we're trying to do with Rothwell, Philips, Bamford seems wrong in 2026...
Soumare isn't our player.

I think, reading between the lines, what we can conclude is that CW probably knows that this is his last chance.
He's therefore going to prioritise promotion — hence the recruitment will focus on experience to get us out of the division, rather than the long term in the shape of young athletic players with a high resale value etc etc.

Sure someone said the top teams int he league this season are the youngest.

The required 'Experience' is a myth.

We need a combination of both youth and experience.
And experience can come when your only 25/26. You don't have to be past 30.

Cooper, Burrows, Seriki, Peck, Arblaster, Brooks and Cannon fall into this bracket of our younger players.

We had an obligation to purchase Soumaré on promotion for €7m. He's definitely not worth that to United as a non-parachute payment club but if we'd gone up he would have been a savvy investment.

I would also humbly suggest that Chris Wilder might not have been the best manager for "Djibi".

Completely disagree. Given there was no plan, no proposed structure and a preseason to plan for it was absolutely crazy sacking the manager (whoever it was) at that point. To say it was the right decision is in my mind nothing short of madness (and I say again it doesn’t matter who the manager was).
of course it mattered who the manager was absolute madness picking selles when there were others available with much better credentials so we will disagree on this one

He might go on to better things. I think jury's out there.
Not sure if he'd be a savvy investment. He had a few matches where he stood out, rest I thought he looked awkward at times and loose. His sending off was a miscontrol too. And I'm still confused as to how he let that goal in vs Norwich.

Why does it matter who the manager was? That is personalising a sacking which is bonkers. We weren’t ready for the next steps in terms of a management strategy, if you think it’s a good idea to sack someone without a real plan (and we all know the recruitment process was completely flawed) then yes we’ll need to agree to disagree. If we’re going to sack a manager I do expect us to have made a good attempt at considering next steps!
