We have MUCH bigger needs in the squad. Get a big man in to replace Sammon, give Done a longer contract and bring McNulty back. Spend the money on positions where it is actually needed.
We are playing the style of football we are because Adkins was given no choice, as our players are not good enough at playing the way he wants. So its more than reasonable to believe he will buy players to fit the way he wants to play. A striker for me really isn't something we need. Sharp will score goals, there is no doubt there (check my posts, I've never questioned him). Done and McNulty have both shown they can score in this league, Adams has flickers of brilliance in front of goal also. Get a few more goals through midfield and wingers, with the likes of Dack. And of course some more energy, steel and creativity through someone like Morsy.
The only kind of striker that I see the use for is a target man type to replace Sammon.
Everytime i think of doyle i remember that ginger haired prick who did the ridiculous fish out of water play acting to get higgopotomaus sent off
. Shame Kennedy's woes continue though.
There's been quite an evident lack of quality coming through the academy in recent years. Maguire aside. We seem to have opted for particularly small players that have shown extremely little in the way of having the talent to back that up. Reed acts as a perfect example. The woes of being too short to be a centre-back in modern football [spare us the irrelevant Joe Shaw stuff, please] and terminally injury prone are not going away.
He's added a further woe of not being able to command a place in Cambridge United's division four defence.
The writings on the wall, Woody. Just as it is for that little mascot who has a kick around with the big lads at half-time. You know, the one who is, age for age, better than Tony Currie...
Ironside........Ironside.
Good player out on loan at Preston and only an occasionally used sub. Didn't settle at parent club Cardiff after a sensational spell at Chesterfield when we were linked with him but would not compete with the lure of the Championship.
Exactly the type of background we should be looking at. He has obvious ability but only a possibility because of a tough spell to give us a chance of signing him.
We need a new striker to back up Sharp and Done. Sammon fine as 4th option maybe.
Somebody asked me at the last game who I'd be going for but my only answer was "no idea without knowing the budget". Doyle would surely be within our budget. surely. We have to think positively.
Personally I would like James Vaughan as that would offer us something different to what we already have.

One rumour on here is that Sheffield United are trying to sign ex-PNE loanee Eoin Doyle #PNEFC #SUFC #TwitterBlades
I wouldn't. He had one purple patch of a season and has been poor since.I reckon you're only poo pooing the rumour cos if he actually came you would be one signing closer to have to get a ST![]()
