Bury (H) - Difficult game on Saturday

I can't ever remember us taking Bury apart at home, Katchuro got a hat trick once but they always seem to be one of those teams I rock up expecting a cricket score and we win 1-0 or 2-1 with a scrappy performance. I'll be glad of any kind of win this weekend. I think Tuesday night might be the eaiser of the two games.

We beat them 4-0 at the lane in our first season down in this league. I seem to recall Mendez-Laing scoring with a cross and Erik Tonne scoring a cracking volley.

They’re a better team this time around though. Still, we need to be looking to get 3 points in almost all of our home games this season.

The game v Bury will be as easy or as difficult as we make it ourselves - ourselves being the key word.

Walsall hammered them in terms of chances, and the Bury goalkeeper play v well, but lost 1 nil - that's football and we will have some of those at some time this season.

The manager is a breath of fresh air, the players appear to now know their positions and what is required and we have 2 Championship forwards (and good subs) that should be more than enough for a team that has had 1 "lucky" win in the league this season.

Anyway.........we HAVE to win as moving on to 9.35 on Tuesday, 15th September we will be singing a song that hasn't passed our lips for donkeys years........... "We are top of the league" :)

Massive talk? - nope, just an honest realisation that we are at least getting somewhere - and quickly after the debacle of Gillingham.

Nobody thought our game against Spurs would be a walkover; the night we walked over them 6-0. That's my point, which I thought I made reasonably clearly. Neither you nor I know until the game is played...

Your inverted snobbery of exaggerating the strength of the opposition and belittling our own club is both noted and expected. Even if we win the next 10 games, some of you will cling to the Gillngham defeat like barnacles.

It's the Bladesfans' Way.

Ah yes. Another special night and a fine achievement. Who was the manager that night? Can you remember?

Bury are on decent run but you would like to think we have enough to see them off, could be tight though, one nil or two one win I think.

On paper it's winnable, so yeah it's standard for us to screw up these kind of matches.

Bury have conceded 11 goals in the first 5 league games so not that good defensively. Just have to be professional, I'll take 1_0 now.

We will bury, Bury, try saying that after a few pints, 3-1 home win

Bury in popular culture

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears.
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interrèd with their bones.

And we get Sid James...

Looks like we will be playing a midget in midfield, not doing the deals for a midfielder and defender could well bite us on the arse. Baxter out still and Wallace injured again ffs
I won't say I told you so .............. oops:oops:

Incidentally, we are on a 27 game unbeaten home run against Bury. They haven't won at the Lane since 1925.

That's cursed it :)

Bloody hell Darren, you couldn't have been more at fault for today's result if you'd been playing Left Back.

Thought we played very well at times going forward. Missed alot of chances where on another day they would have gone in, Bury were better than I expected and capitalised on a poor defensive display from us today.
