Nick Blackman

Everyone's rubbish to you. Who would you sign?

Why, anybody who has ever played for us before of course, and nobody else. It's the Bladesfans' Way!

Certainly not Nick fucking Blackman! 9 season's a pro and 33 career goals, including Scotland and more than his fair share of penalties! Average - less than 4 (yes that's FOUR) goals a season. Still, if that's acceptable to you - Gerrimin!

Didn't say that was acceptable but stats aside he looked to me like a very good, strong and dangerous player for this league.

Point remains, we don't need top notch players with excellent stats to go up, this is league one, not the champions league.

By the way, who would you sign?

There's really no point. They would be from places you can't see from Cherry Street, so you wouldn't know who I was talking about. Who would you sign? I could use a laugh.

You know, if the likes of Blackman and Halford (a mediocrity and a nearly-was) had never played for us, people would be ridiculing the very thought of signing them and rightly so.

Could you name those players please? Then I can see if I know who you're talking about.

I'd be quite interested to know who you would sign (given the chance/choice) also (lets limit it to somewhat realistic/believable players!).

Another day, another twitter account claiming ITK status...

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Friday afternoon drags like buggery.
Twatter is for dick heads.
Will gypo Dack be playing tomoz so I can shout abuse at him?
Will I have time for some dinner before setting off to the Lane, or should will I have to get some chips from Shoreham Street chippy? Hate the queues.

Taking an enormous leap into metaphysics and pretending for a moment that this isn't utter shite... Nick Blackman was a really talented footballer but one with crap movement and low work rate. Unless he's changed his game he's never been a Wilder style footballer.

1 goal in 21 games? We need more from a striker

He's played most of those games on the wing, and many of them off the bench.

He was scoring plenty for Reading only a year ago, he was on fire, so it'd be a real coup for us in L1. He scored a few for us in this league last time when he was less developed and when we were a much poorer team so he should have no problem now.

He'd add a lot to our team. Pace, power, a powerful shot, skill, trickery, composure, penalties... he'd be an outlet and create space for our midfielders and link with Sharp at least as well as anyone else has.

He could play with/around Sharp or give us a great attacking wide option in a different formation.

I'd expect him to score at least 7/8 goals between now and the end of the season if we signed him.

As for him not being a typical Wilder type, maybe not but I think you compromise if it means getting a player of his quality in this division.

"And that, children, is how to wax lyrical about a mediocre footballer who we mustn't miss out on."

"Johnny, you've got your hand up?"

"Yes, miss. I've been checking him out on 'junior computer manager', his goals return for the last six seasons are 0, 4, 3, 11, 0 and 0. Might he be a little bit shite, miss?"

"Bladey Kyle, at the back with your teaching assistant?"

"Miss, I've heard he's 27 and he's scored 44 league goals in his career including loads of pens and 12 of those were in the Premier League...in ...Scotland. That's good isn't it?..."

The class descends into stony silence. The other kids turn and look knowingly at Bladey Kyle....

You thought Fleck would be a poor signing too. Enough said.

There's never enough said with you mate. You are capable of talking a great deal of sense and I agree with you much of the time. It's just when you go into 'I know best' mode...

You're very fond of 'I know best mode' yourself! I don't try and ram it down anyone's throat that I 'know best', I simply post with confidence in what I'm saying, and there's always a basis to what I say. There's nothing wrong with that. Anyone is free to disagree.

would be a top signing. He could easily slot in to this 1st 11 and he'd be capable of playing a league above if we got there.
