I knew Matt for 10/15 years before he passed away.
He could be a bit of a pain in the arse at time. He was utterly convinced Diego De Girolamo would be the next global super star and even changed his Facebook moniker in homage to his hero.
He didn’t agree with the whole Covid thing and was disgruntled with unable to visit his beloved Dev, so built his own pub in his own back garden.
He was also a really intelligent bloke, who could argue his point until the cows came home and arguing whilst accepting, conceding and defending various points, all of which with nuance and intelligence and you’d think he was in the legal profession and the most suprising thing reading some of his arguments is that he was actually a Brickie. He was genuinely funny with it too.
In my opinion he was a superb human being, with a heart of gold, who told it like he saw it and didn’t care who liked it or not.
Quite a few on here will have known him in person and a lot more through his social media output but he was a great bloke.
I hope Amy and his two girls are doing him proud, as his love for them (although he did love a good moan about family life) did shine through
