Injuries

So many threads but thinking the best place might be this one, interesting to note that Spurs are reviewing their pitch and facilities due to the number of injuries they have picked up as a group over the last 2 years. I am not saying everyone is indestructible and injuries happen due a number of reasons but as everyone knows we have an injury problem, not sure if that is Wilder's preference for "full contact" training 2 days before games etc. Prime example of that 25/26 season was Bamford's knock during training that ruled him out for a few in February is the reason or is it the players that have a past injury record being more at risk or is it the poor facilities or is down to conditioning/lack of.

With trimming down our squad, I think an internal review from management wouldn't be a bad idea. It's not necessarily looking to find people at fault and witch-hunt them but it's more to find the route of the problem and bring fitness to the "core culture". As many faults Warnock had, what he didn't lack was having players that were fit and capable of being available for 90 minutes. Yes some did get injuries but the core culture was stamina, grit and effort. With the resources being tight on the funding front, we have to take inspiration in getting the most out of performances on the pitch, 25/26 season was full of 60/70 minutes appearances for a lot of players and complaining of how many 3 games in a week we had which isn't a new thing. I can understand tactically you might need to change things and on occasions give players a rest when the game is done but I just find it frustrating that a modern day footballer can't seem to put in 90 minutes worth of "work" when required to do so.

I saw James Maddison talking about it post interview the other day regarding Spurs injury issues.

Has to be said though that with us the injury crisis was bad during Hecky's time in charge. Arblaster and Souttars injuries the other season were just very unlucky but under Hecky it was snappy hammy season.

Very true the whole Shirecliffe sniper out etc. Be too much hard work to establish how we fair against other opposition on the injury front as so many types of injuries and not easily recorded when they first happened. Similar to Cooper we don’t really know when he was first injured and carried on through injections and such like. You do start to wonder is it the facilities or the conditioning approach. This weekend will be 4 weeks off for our players. I don’t know if there is a requirement of how much time off players can have but even cutting it to bringing the contracted squad mid-June (6 weeks holiday) rather than end June/July and focus on 2 weeks of solid fitness no football would be a good start

For what it’s worth I bumped into Andre Brooks on Saturday on ecclesall road and he was still in a knee brace, I was too drunk to ask how his recovery was going though

This is getting ridiculous. TC missed 16 games last year after getting injured in a warm up FFS and then had to be brought back gently. Now he lasts 26 minutes and he’s gone again.
He has got the thinnest legs I have ever seen on a professsional footballer, think he may have some sort of muscle wasting disease. Not surprised he is always injured. It would have simply taken someone with eyes and a brain to watch him playing for Luton to work this out. Anyhow hopefully he will get back to his full fitness!!

Not just me that thinks that!

Any news on Seriki injury and how long out for...cos this leaves only Donovan with any real pace in the side.

The Seriki one will undoubtedly be bad, if we haven't mentioned it at all. We do this as a club. We go quiet for a bit, then we mention that it's really bad news.

I was watching it live and I was sure wilder mouthed ACL when he was talking with coaches.

Not a qualified lip reader though

And allowed him to play on?? If true it's up there with taking arblaster to boozer after pigs game..shambles.
We’d used our last sub already.

Taking a player to a pub after a game rather than home to cry alone isn’t a bad thing

Load o drunk people in crowded pub risks taking another knock..have to disagree on this one.
Yep, it was pretty stupid. And Arblaster has a loving and supportive family. It’s not as if he would have been home crying alone. But unfortunately one of the toxic elements of the “culture” took hold on that particular evening.

Burrows has a tight quad according to CW

That tight quad seems to have been around for a while. He seemed somewhat cagey about Burrows.

Not saying tight quad is the new Beattie flu but I wasn't fully convinced by Wilder on this one. 😄

Said he’d make it worse at Swansea when he came on!

Was in and out of side pre season too!

I also feel it’s a cover and he’s been exploring transfer options for a while now.

Will be v surprised if he’s still here end of Tuesday.
