And what I'm getting at is. Even upon promotion in Hecky season we didn't really spend much on fees at all.

Wages should be offset with PL money and parachutes. But I ain't a football financier.

Be interesting to see what actually happens now we are in the crunch of the window. My guess is a few loans and a free. Possibly a transfer a wee out the blue but I doubt it. (Not Souttar)
And some outgoings but I am not expecting a key player to go aside from maybe Burrows if west ham are interested.
Think the Peck interest may be gone for now and we might want a bigger fee than many clubs want to pay.

Very true. Although the club will have been working towards zero parachute payments as a contingency at the least you'd hope. It always amazes me when I see how high we rank in terms of wage bill in the league, when you consider our squad....

Yeah our outlay in terms of transfer fees has been low since our relegation. I was surprised when we forked our £8m (there about) on Tanganga. Tbf looking at what we have bought when we have splashed the cash in this league, you can see why we are in such a mess now.

Why would a PL loanee be bothered about the off field situation ? All they want is games of football in the Championship.

Scouts/analysts should have been marched out of the building on 1st June and replaced with competent staff.

Understand completely where you are coming from.
Competent staff discuss with manager 3 or 4 quality signings each with a second third choice within budget that has been allocated and with a view of possible outgoings and their plausible value.

The issue will be these ‘not a clue’ owners, and the lack of funds made available.

A more generous ownership would be able to invest in the Dore site etc. But you’re right - a big splurge on players could lead to points deductions. It’s tricky.

How do we know our budget?

it’s pretty easy to work out based on our last set of files accounts showing our running costs, factor in the drop in income and match that too the new SCR rules which dictate what we can spend.

You’ll quickly work out from the very start of the window we didn’t have the head room for big fees whether the owners put in cash or not. We needed £15-20m to break even (in fees + saved wages).

What’s more depressing is that it’s the same dozen or so names linked every window, hence my opinion that you might as well save some wages and bin of the recruitment team. They’re shite anyway (look at last summer) and wilder clearly doesn’t trust them as he keeps going back for his usual targets

Given it appears we wont be reinvesting the Gus money in a left winger anyone who comes in on loan for that position will play. Also any PL loan will be looking at 19yr old Donovans minutes already thinking yep if im good enough they will play me. If they go to the likes of West Ham, Wolves, Burnley, Boro the same wont be true.

yes good point wilder has stated numerous times hes after a left winger on loan which means hes intending to play a system with wingers so premier league clubs know their player will get plenty of game time although if we do generate some more income from sales it wouldnt suprise me if we went back in for cleary at barnsley 3m plus add ons should get him
