My biggest gripe is the fact we have brought in £14m and spent nowt. Whatever shit is going on with the owners, that money is directly generated by the club - Brooks came through the academy, Hamer was bought when we got promoted and sold Berge/Ndiaye.

Even half of that figure would be a fucking start.

Owners are absolute c*nts.

We have got to make up for a shortfall in income due to parachute payments.
It does cost a few for loan players and expect we will see a few come in.
This summer was never gonna be spendageddon.

Big however. And I was thinking this other day.
When you actually look at our spending over the past 4-5 years it's interesting reading. I can only assume wage bills make up for alot of it. And I know they do.
But normally there are wage reductions upon relegations that also compound with each year we do not get promoted back to PL.

But fee wise when you look at ins and outs since we got relegated in 2021 our fees in Vs fees out is fairly even. Even more so if you look since we got relegated in 2024.

And what I'm getting at is. Even upon promotion in Hecky season we didn't really spend much on fees at all.

Wages should be offset with PL money and parachutes. But I ain't a football financier.

Be interesting to see what actually happens now we are in the crunch of the window. My guess is a few loans and a free. Possibly a transfer a wee out the blue but I doubt it. (Not Souttar)
And some outgoings but I am not expecting a key player to go aside from maybe Burrows if west ham are interested.
Think the Peck interest may be gone for now and we might want a bigger fee than many clubs want to pay.

Very true. Although the club will have been working towards zero parachute payments as a contingency at the least you'd hope. It always amazes me when I see how high we rank in terms of wage bill in the league, when you consider our squad....

Yeah our outlay in terms of transfer fees has been low since our relegation. I was surprised when we forked our £8m (there about) on Tanganga. Tbf looking at what we have bought when we have splashed the cash in this league, you can see why we are in such a mess now.

The court case & bad press around this has done us a lot of damage in terms of reputation never mind the financial side .
The last couple of seasons we were an attractive proposition for signings ( permanents & loans) as we expected to be at the top end & we’re probably paying good wages & loan fees , were definitely not carrying that kudos now & I’d imagine we’re under a lot tighter constraints on wages to loans to .
We’re not gonna be getting first dibs on a lot of the PL clubs loanees out as we have before & I think we’ll end up with the second & third choices , we’ll see what it brings between now & Tuesday but I wouldn’t be too optimistic ⚔️

Why would a PL loanee be bothered about the off field situation ? All they want is games of football in the Championship.

We can be annoyed at him (and his team) identifying targets miles out of our budget though, that’s before we get to the predictably of his targets being ‘players we’ve tried to sign (or have played for us) before’

Scouts/analysts should have been marched out of the building on 1st June and replaced with competent staff.
Understand completely where you are coming from.
Competent staff discuss with manager 3 or 4 quality signings each with a second third choice within budget that has been allocated and with a view of possible outgoings and their plausible value.
All well in advance of window.
None of this is rocket science.
I suggest the Bettis et al are well capable of this.
The issue will be these ‘not a clue’ owners, and the lack of funds made available.
Hence money is available, then no it isn’t, then we owe 35 million to Prince. Then it’s loans and frees. You obvs don’t like Wilder but c’mon put yourself in his shoes he’s trying to nail down a situation with an ownership that’s all over the shop.
