Removing the sponsor off the Home Shirt. Anyone going to attempt it?

I don't think anyone has a problem with who the sponsor is (do they?) I certainly don't but I don't have a problem with how it is applied. It looks and feels cheap and like a massive after thought, granted I don't buy many football shirts but I do not recall anyone having such a poor implementation of a sponsors logo on the shirt before (except us last season)

There has been one that was worse.

Everyone seems to forget the Capital One gaffer tape sponsor on our PL home shirt. No need to iron that bad boy off it just fell off after a few months.

What one of those sponsor's who wants to put considerably less money into our (my) beloved club from out of town who doesn't care?

Not entirely an altruistic gesture though is it? You've sponsored the club for x and hopefully you'll get an uptick in sales of x + y on the back of it.

The fact is, the logo on the shirt looks awful, and as a consumer I'm well within my rights to do whatever I want with the shirt I've paid £45 for.

You've mentioned that there are regulations about sponsor sizes on the shirt so you've had to tweak the logo a bit. That coupled with your comment about northern lads not needing a saatchi designing logo, means that your tweaked logo has a distinct whiff of 'fuck it, that'll do' about it, which is not particularly respectful of those people, many of whom will be on low incomes, that will be paying £45 for each shirt.

It surprises me JHS had little input into the appearance of the logo on the shirt, especially considering the club have never handled the design side of things very well. I still have nightmares about this....

Still doesn't beat the top quality photoshop skills on the announcement of new investment.

I can only take reassurance from the fact that neither are as bad as this...Sheffield-Wednesday-14-15-Home-Kit.jpg

The bloke second in from the right doesn't even have any legs!

Can't believe they have this printed large scale in their club shop window!

The guy three from the right seems to be getting punched in the stomach too, possibly for being midway through doing the Tom Hark dance.

I think a more pressing concern is how rubbish the "extra" white stripes look on the larger shirts.

Most of the players get away with 5 stripes only (red on the outer edge). On bigger shirts, you start get thin stripes of white at each edge which are wider at the top than at the bottom. Looks a bit bobbins.

Look out for fatties wearing the new kit to see what I mean.

And in case you weren't following our Northampton coverage, the white shorts are extremely see through. Wear for 5 a side at your peril.

Evening.

Well to open everyone's eyes, I agree if Icould have changed the shirt design to incorporate our logo I would have got involved. That was not an option. Changing our logo which has never been in the public eye for critic previously wasn't an option either. ( A logo me and Mark Holland sketched in 2 mins!!) Sheffield design none of this Saatchi and Saatchi expensive stuff for us lads up north!!

Yes we would have loved it to look better but on the whole we are very happy with it and jumping with joy with the away shirt (out Monday).

Also to enlighten the masses the football league regulate the area available for a sponsor so we have to work with the design and a 220 cm squared area that works. Also the finish has been tested to sparkle under floodlight? Hence the grey and not a black font.

Respect for being so candid. Well done JHS

Worth noting that it seems to vary as the new Real Madrid home shirt has the badge ironed on and not stiched.

Give them credit though they did well to give it the appreance of it being stiched on.

That must be the Adidas "thing" all our training wear is the same and everyone was grumbling about how mediocre the blades are.

well spotted. if its good enough for them then its good enough for us. I really cant see these badges peeling off, lets just all be glad we got rid of macron and the filth have sondico. I may go on pork talk to gloat in a bit, just because they would do it.lol

I was in JHS sales the other day and to be fair to them they were all wearing the new kit and had John Denver on in the background. Even Pete was whistling !

A sponsor coming on the forum, who is local and putting money into the club? Defending their logo (which could be far worse) and appearing honest in their answers. It's better than shark loans quick quid or some of the other bollocks it could have been. In fact it sounds like the best sponsorship deal for quite a while.

Hopefully some will stop crying over the logo and we can get on and get promoted. Bring on the football.

For some reason I remember you in GCSE physics with Mr Marsh. Probably rolling a crafty fag at the back of class.

:)

If it's the same mr marsh who taught physics to me in 2002, not surprised you got away with rolling a crafty fag in his class

To be fair though no one has a problem with the sponsor it's just unfortunate how it's been made to look on the shirt. I rather like their logo but think it could have been applied and displayed better. Clearly does not help that they had to adjust it fit a certain size.

We'll if you remember me rolling fags then you must have been buying them off me, which with the proceeds was buying me fags from the shop!

Thanks for the positives.

Yes chucked more money into the pot today and delighted despite going through open wallet surgery with advertising boards behind both goals a corner flag and either side of the dug outs. Areas they struggle to achieve the extra money for however in for a penny........

Why did you chuck more money into the pot?

Because those advertising boards that are on telly are not free?

Isn't this an altruistic gesture? Hence as a local business supporting a local team you surely should have been happy to give the cash in return for nowt?

(Yes, I'm being facetious in the extreme, but if you are going to complain about "open wallet surgery" for something which is either a marketing stunt or a massive ego boost then people will call you out on it. And let me be clear, I'd rather have JHS than Chupa chips, Azerbaijan or even visit Malta)

Not to forget the "HFS Loans" one - not only was it a nasty stuck on square but there was a fair shitstorm on the old Blades United message board due to the blue and white colours.

Yes very happy . I am not complaining and never stated I was. Just noting

Putting more money into the coffers as JHS is 100% behind the coming season like no other sponsor (especially in League 1) delighted to be snapping up boards round the ground more the better don't want any spare just like any club. Want to help us stand head and shoulders above our competitors in all aspects.

Have spent money today on advertising in programme as we want to tell people we sell every day cars not just exotica, that the average family / person in the street buys but that we are not a faceless organisation who is not interested in you. Our customers we class as friends and that the same attention to detail goes into the £10k focus we have advertised today as the £200k Ferrari.

As a sponsor unlike many we want to be involved with the proper passionate fans.

Any sensible suggestions you have to get involved we will consider.

Fantastic that you're putting money into the club but from experience, advertising on the pitch side boards is a complete waste of time, you might aswell set fire to your money. When we did it, the company I worked for at the time had a board facing the TV camera when we were in the Premiership and we didn't have a single sale where the customer had seen our board at The Lane.
