“View from John Street” should start a podcast,,

be interesting to hear how disguises his voice and ties to mask the stutter.

What's going on 'ere then?

Why can I not listen to the most balanced pod cast, with the most normal people on it any more?

Am I going to have to sign up to some other rambling shit or something?

Who's the most normal and balanced now?

At least do a wilder comeback special at Xmas when we've just got out of the relegating zone.

I'm never reading the adverts on the view from again if you don't.

Apologies again for no more BladesPod - although the idea of spending time talking about our games does not spark joy at the minute.

Just wanted to add another recommendation for the Pinch's "Formline" podcasts. I don't really listen to United-related stuff any more (Tufty Club don't count) but have listened to these. YMMV but I find them pretty balanced and I appreciate the analytics angle they work in as well, without getting too far away from the actual stuff you're seeing when you watch the games. They're nice blokes as well and there's not much fluff - it's a pretty focussed, tight pod to listen to.

Their most recent ep made me feel a bit more optimistic about the rest of our season actually, as someone who keeps staring at the league table and thinking that 50 points seems a hell of a long way off: https://www.thepinch.uk/p/formline-28-the-never-ending-story

Pinch, Red Half + 4Blades & Tufty when they can be arsed.

Do a lot of driving and it’s better than listening to the radio.

Often thought Roygbiv & Travelling Blade would be a good listen on a podcast, both have pretty sensible views (most of the time) and TB was good on his recent appearance on Red Half.

Not sure me constantly butting into his 20 minute monologues would work. I timed it and he spoke for 7 minutes straight on the last Red Half. You're not getting away with that with me in town

In all seriousness it was a great pod that one. Completely summed up how I've been feeling over the last few years. Won't be everybody's experience and probably the minority opinion but it really resonated with me

If I get enough Platinum subscribers by Monday morning, it shall come to pass. It'll be the best £15 per week you've committed to spending all year. P.S. I really love the Blades and I have sources.
Come on then, let’s see/hear this…

I think I’d rather listen to nails on blackboard than blades ramble.

I’d rather wait until the next Bladespod from Beans and Roygbiv than listen to a blades ramble.

TBH he was getting a lot of personal abuse on here so thought I’d give it a try. I can take or leave most of it, but the one with his two mates (Three Mardy Blades) reminds me of watching football with my pals and that kind of banter.

I started listening to BR during the run in last year - and I found it quite enjoyable at the time.

I have however dropped off recently for a lot of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • The unrelenting positivity - we are shit at the moment and frankly it needs to be acknowledged - yet there are times on there they are still talking about us hitting the PO.
  • I like Wilder as much as the next man - unless the next man is Jimmy Ramble - again far too positive on Wilder considering the actual results he's achieved in this spell
  • The podcasts are just too long

It’s true that Bladespod is the yardstick by which all other Blades podding is to be measured. Unfortunately, it means I am tuning out of almost everything poddish that is Blades related now, because the reliable gold standard doesn’t exist anymore.
I think the others gained some of their relevance because they were a collection of periphery that augmented the the main course. An amuse bouche, an hors d'oeuvre, or a petit fours, but none of them are the full meat and two veg like Ben and Andy have been.

With this isolation, The Pinch is probably the only one that has some substance but I often give it a miss.

Fair do’s.

Afraid I’m part of his “cesspit”.

I must have missed whatever Jimmy Ramble did wrong on this forum, so I confess I’ve no idea why he gets so much stick here. (I’ve seen some negative comments about him having paid membership - but he puts out far more free content than I could ever watch). Generally I enjoy his shows. I don’t agree with him on everything, and I certainly can’t watch it all since there seem to be hours every day, but I find it pretty entertaining. As someone said above, the Three Mardy Blades shows are probably the best.

Now that Blades Pod has gone I think the Pinch is definitely the best in terms of the level of analysis, but I can listen to more than one and enjoy them for different reasons. I watch a fair amount of Sheff United Way too.

Just you wait, when we start winning again, we’ll have podcast coming out of our ears….Pods for every taste.

Yeah this.

I understand some took exception to him putting "information" behind his pay wall around the time of GBs passing.

Only frustration with The Pinch is that fairly inconsistent in release of new pods.

Other than that, Steve Mackan and team do excellent job 👌
Very kind mate. We have tried to keep it weekly this season, albeit days of the week can be tricky to pin down.

Brand new and original Desert Islands discs rip-off pod w/ Deadbat went out yday.

Roygbiv if you ever fancy reigniting the pod train, give me a shout. I’ve been looking to set one up in the theme of Bladespod for a while, even had conversations with Foxy around an S2 one.

I’d be very open to discussing it with you and Beans if you’d ever feel there’s a possibility of passing the baton a la Jay to Roy.

That’ll be a good un, with Deadbat
Will try that on my trip up to Sheffield tomorrow morning.
I like what you guys do. It’s balanced because you contrast the stats but with the eye test.

It’s a results based business, though. Whilst we are so shite I lose the inclination to consume a pod. I like the NTT20 lads stuff and I do like the breadth of what they do across the EFL but it’s a tough listen when we are so lame and impotent.

I’ve stated before that part of Deadbat ’s charm is that he sounds to me like a cross between Rudy Wade, off misfits, and Dave Best from The Royale Family.

I mean that in a complimentary way. He has that dead pan delivery, which I appreciate.

I can only imagine what he’s like with the pupils. I’ll bet he’s popular but I also bet he can be a scathing, sarky bugger, when the occasion demands.

I have to admit that I'm delighted to not be doing anything at the moment. It's nice being able to switch off from United after the game has finished. I have thought about doing a Blades nostalgia based one or maybe one that focuses less on the team and more on the experience of being a fan but right now I'm happy talking about Nokia phones on the Who Remembers podcast.

Would definitely listen to any podcast you did though and be up for coming on as a guest at some point
