Some seasons were easier than others!!
Bill Punton was our only signing of the 1966/67 season. We made no signings during the 1969/70 season and then we signed Bill Dearden and John Barnwell after our last league game of the season.I’ve made a list of all

Part 1 1966/67 to 1980/81
66:67 Bill Punton
67/68 Tony Currie
68/69 Eddie Colquhoun
69/70 Bill Dearden
Typical COH, panic buying when the horse has bolted. Boooooooooo! Get John Hassell and Dick Wragg back!We made no signings during the 1969/70 season and then we signed Bill Dearden and John Barnwell after our last league game of the season.
Yes,that’s why I had to include Bill Dearden in 1969/70 as he played in the County Cup & Gerry Young’s testimonial in that season.Bill Punton was our only signing of the 1966/67 season. 09/10 I think Lee Williamson had a better career with us than Evans, even discounting the obvious. Underrated player who I don't see mentioned oftenPart 3 1996/7 to 2010/11
96/97 Jan-Aage Fjortoft
97/98 Vas Borbokis
98/99 Rob Kozluk
99/00 Michael Brown
00/01 Peter Ndlovu
01/02 Rob Page
02/03 Paddy Kenny
03/04 Andy Gray
04/05 Derek Geary
05/06 Neil Shipperley
06/07 Rob Hulse
07/08 James Beattie
08/09 David Cotterill
09/10 Ched Evans
10/11 Michael Doyle
05/06 Shipperley? Can't remember who we signed, and my memory is perhaps fading me, but was he our best signing?Part 3 1996/7 to 2010/11

Yes, I was at the Gerry Young testimonial, I had my eyes on John Barnwell but forgot that we had signed Dearden. When Dearden scored our equaliser at the Leppings Lane End, I asked my dad (we were in the Kop) "who scored", my dad replied "Dearden", I asked him to say his name again but again I didnt get the name so he wrote down "DEARDEN" on his cigarette packet and then I remembered!Yes,that’s why I had to include Bill Dearden in 1969/70 as he played in the County Cup & Gerry Young’s testimonial in that season.
Ifill for me05/06 Shipperley? Can't remember who we signed, and my memory is perhaps fading me, but was he our best signing?
Perhaps only the best signing for the local kebab shop, who has world record takings, until Mousset came and topped them!![]()
Yes there were others such as Ifill,Gillespie & Unsworth but I’ve based it on when he came back in the team towards the end of the season. His replacements such as Akinbiyi ( Hillsboro goal apart) and Horsfield etc didn’t work imo.05/06 Shipperley? Can't remember who we signed, and my memory is perhaps fading me, but was he our best signing?

Kenny signed in 2002, but get your point about the others.I’d say Ched Evans can’t have been the best signing that season. Having looked back we signed Kenny in the same season and he was much better for us on the whole.
Evans took 3 seasons and a relegation to be any good, then got sent down before he finished the season.
I’d even argue that Richard Cresswell was a better signing than Evans, we also signed Williamson, he was decent for us from what I remember.
Oh yeah, he’s listed as a ‘ban?’ rather than a signing! Bizarre.Kenny signed in 2002, but get your point about the others.
Silent Blade, the Gerry Young was the first time I went to Wendy's on their Kop as well. I can't recall the score. But if I remember correctly, the crowd was 12k.
Lilian Nalis05/06 Shipperley? Can't remember who we signed, and my memory is perhaps fading me, but was he our best signing?

Fair point, though all the picks I’ve made were permanent. I’m sure we’d have stayed up if Hulse hadn’t got injured, one more goal would have done it.If you are going to have Rob Hulse in the list then I’d have Souttar over Cooper for last season.
Tbf most of the summer signings worked (apart from a midfielder whose name escapes me). Unsworth short Gillespie and shipperley provided great experience.Ifill for me
I’d replace Arnott with Colin Morris. Or does he come under 81/82. He was signed in 82.Part 2 1981/82 to 1995/96
