Agree it’s not ideal

But surely you can think back 12 months. We were in a worse position back then and looked very light in the squad when the season started.

The reason is that the best players and loanees have plenty of options and often their clubs won’t agree to losing them until they have a replacement.

So what would you do? Walk away? Give ultimatums? Or play the patient waiting game like we did last year.

Remember last year we got all our targets apart from Cannon who choose Stoke and Johnston who choose WBA.

The real culprit is that the league start date and transfer window aren’t aligned.

Unfortunately we start the season weaker than whats required but by 31st August the plan is we’ll have a much stronger defence and impressive squad. Wait and see.

Will you be starting a similar 'Official Deludamol' thread too, where all the promises of the wonderful players we will have by the end of the window, how forward thinking RS's style is, and how sutomatic promotion is all but nailed on, can be confined to one thread?

Where have there been any promises of players, as the club haven't come out with it, and fans can't make promises about something they're not involved in and have no influence over?

Where are all the threads suggesting that we will be signing loads of players, as I haven't seen any. Most posters have been quite realistic as to what we've got, what we need, what we've signed so far, what we're likely to sign and that there's still nearly a month to go.

If that's being deluded then I'll go eat my own head as I give up!

Yeah, call it bedwetting if you like, but this idea that we always do our business in august just screams mediocrity.
Id rather our owners show the intent they promised in taking over and back their new manager with some solid permanent signings at the start of pre season, so they can get used to the way of playing.. not in August so they can take a month of getting match fit!

12 points in august could be the difference between 2nd, or playoffs or no playoffs at all!!

would you rather have the right players in towards the end of the window, or snatch at any players just to get them in early?

Or been playing too much FM where you get who you want when you want?!

Think that’s impossible.

Midfield is strong with depth, top 4 level.

Attack is strongish but lacks depth. We need Campbell to stay fit and hope either Cannon or One have a breakout season like Peck did last season.

Defence is currently weak, possibly not even average Championship level.

Currently we have no chance of top 6, probably upper mid table.

That’s why we will strengthen the centre of defence because it’s essential and will get more depth in the forward line because like last season, injury to Campbell and were struggling. If we don’t then I’ll hold me hands up and accept I’m wrong.

How come many other clubs find the right players ages in advance and still get their business done?
Seems like you're happy with the status quo mediocrity of transfer windows gone by..
Do most posters on this forum resort to snide comments when a poster asks questions that doesnt follow general consensus?
 
Seems to be the older element constantly referring to piss. Cant think why ....

Multiple clubs will be in for any player, so for ever club as you say ‘find the right player’ other don’t

Personally I would say the last few windows, upon completion, not half way through as we are now, have been successful

Yeah, generally that’s how it works on here😂

But you don’t answer my question mate, substandard now or ideal signings later?

How on earth did we draw that match from being 2-0 up ??

Bristol were terrible first half then we let them in with a defensive mix up and a daft penalty by Robbo (he should be nowhere near the first team by the way). It’s going to be a long bloody season if we don’t book our ideas up and carry on missing chances like we did in the first half.

I’ve seen no improvement at all from last season, players blowing out of their arses after 60 minutes. Have we actually got a conditioning coach at the club ??

Why the hell did we let Wilder go ………… Selles out !!

I said some clappers. I thought you were taking on the speshul forces on there with reasonable comments so it was actually a compliment.

The only mentions l get on there are from snides which aren’t tagged. A dirty trick even on there……

The choice is to take what is available in July/early August or to bring in better players when they become available over the next two weeks or so.
I prefer to get the best that are available during the whole window even if that means dropping points in the first 4 games.
