You have to base line from somewhere and not saying this is correct as its all supply and demand - says paid 12.5 m value 15m I think thats euros and albeit not huge a small profit
That's because it was reported as £10m* at the time, which is the fully loaded, Brazil caps won and staying up bonuses paid amount. Up front was about £7m and I doubt we've triggered many, if any bonuses.

*Major fault with Transfermarkt: it stores the amount in the local currency but converts on the day.

This thread is comical.

People complain about going backwards, selling better players and replacing them with inferior.....

Then I see this post littered with :

Souza overrated, unfit, doesn't play enough, now 26, didn't make it in the prem (with one of the worst prem teams on record)....

Replace with

Alzate whos:

a) Older than Souza
b) inferior to Souza
c) Didn't make it in the Prem with a much better team
d) Has played considerably less football than souza over his career.
On some level I hear what you’re saying but I don’t think anyone in this thread has been comparing Souza with Alzate, or suggesting that they’d be happy to let Souza go because we’re getting Alzate. If one person has, I apologise, but it’s not been a narrative throughout. Your logic would make it nearly impossible to comment on anything like this because of all of the caveats. I would raise the negatives you mention about Souza because I think it’s a limiting factor in his valuation. I would be OK with Souza going based on him presumably wanting to leave and us presumably needing to raise fees to sign people. I am presuming if Souza goes he’ll be more than adequately replaced. Of course I wouldn’t be OK with him going if we replaced him with a shithead. Even with all of the negatives raised about Souza - he is often unfit, he didn’t look great in the Prem, he has a habit of going missing when the chips are down - I’d definitely sooner he stayed. But what kind of shitpost it would be if everything we said had to involve some kind of decision tree.

We just need to keep our squad together and NOT sell our best. Until the people who do this learn we will always be the losers...Currie, Jones, Birchenall, Ndiaye, etc, etc. We have a promotion squad, no doubt. We just need a few in to cover what we have and to make the team stronger, not a lot to ask for and not a great deal needs to be spent. We don't need AI to to this, my cat could!
Aye
“NOT sell our best” said every football fan ever, to no avail - go on any fan site (or in any alehouse) anywhere & see (hear) the exact same greeting & groaning about favourite sons sold (usually on the ‘cheap’) or ‘garbage’ overpaid for &/ or ‘should have signed (when they were ‘cheap’ with ‘obvious’ potential)
The PL champions have just lost (for nowt) a lad with >250 appearances (+ 30 odd @ international level)
Similarly a recent Champions League (+ multiple PL) winning club (sic) with apparently infinite resources couldn’t keep hold of one of the best players in the world.
The ‘no ambition’ narrative is wearisome, & merely a ‘trope’ for (understandable) but inevitable disappointment.
Even then to lump Souza in with “Currie, Jones, Birchenall, Ndiaye” (Salmons?, Deane?, Walker?Maguire? Brooks? Berge?) is, frankly, (little short of) ludicrous.

15% of fuck all then.
Shroedingers Transfer Fee 😂

We’ve been mugged off at 13m, but won’t get anything else as a sell on fee….

Not aimed at anyone in particular *

Maybe a touch lower than we’d have hoped, but not by much - all in all a pretty fair fee and decent profit from the £7m we signed him for.

Move on.

Seen a couple about this saying he is having a medical on Thursday. Feels more than just a rumour...
The Star seems to be pretty strong on this move though...
You guys have been around long enough. It’s a rumour until it’s confirmed as done and dusted.
Twas always such.

Is it my imagination, that many Championship clubs, are way ahead of us , signings wise. Rothwell gone now.

Yes it’s your imagination.

Most teams have signed no one. A few have signed 1/2.

Players contracts run to midnight last night / this morning.

Pre season officially starts today.

July is the busy month for transfers not June.

We’ll be absolutely fine.

I know... but if I was a betting man (which I am not) I think a bet that he is going to Wolfsburg would make me some money.

I want him to stay, but he is too good for Championship football (not sure if he is good enough for PL...) and he has been quite public about his desire to play at a higher level.

Permanent first team transfer this summer (bold indicates a fee). The biggest fee so far is Zeidane Inoussa moving from BK Häcken to Swansea for £5m; more than half the teams in the division either haven't made any signings or have just made one. We're not alone.

6 teams have signed 4 players (Bristol C, Humberside Jungle Cats, Norwich, Preston, QPR, Swansea)
2 teams have signed 3 players (Birmingham, Watford)
4 teams have signed 2 players (Blackburn, Coventry, Derby, Millwall)
7 teams have signed 1 player (Charlton, Portsmouth, United, Southampton, Stoke, West Brom, Wrexham)
7 teams haven't signed anyone (Ipswich, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Oxford, Yesterday FC)

Birmingham: 3 (Neumann, Hannover; Gardner-Hickman, Bristol City, Sampsted, Twente)
Blackburn: 2 (Tavares, Moreirense; De Neve, KV Kortrijk)
Bristol City: 4 (Lumley, Southampton; Riis Jacobsen, Preston; Hirakawa, Machida Zelvia; Randell, Plymouth)
Charlton: 1 (Carey, Blackpool)
Coventry: 2 (Ángel Brau, Granada; Kesler-Hayden, Aston Villa)
Derby: 2 (Batth, Blackburn; Morris, Luton)
Hull: 4 (Puerta, Leverkusen; Laalaoui, Rabat; Ajayi, West Brom; Phillips, Rotherham)
Ipswich: 0
Leicester: 0
Middlesbrough: 0
Millwall: 2 (Crocombe, Burton; Coburn, Middlesbrough)
Norwich: 4 (Wright, Man City; Kovačević, Sporting; Medic, Ajax; Darling, Swansea; Grimshaw, Plymouth)
Oxford: 0
Portsmouth: 1 (Segecic, Sydney)
Preston: 4 (Small, Charlton; Valentín, Yesterday FC; Iversen, Leicester; Thompson, Stoke)
QPR: 4 (Adamson, McArthur; Mbengue, Reading; Dembélé, Brest; Poku, Peterborough)
United: 1 (Ukaki, Botev Plovdiv)
Yesterday FC: 0
Southampton: 1 (Quarshie, Hoffenheim)
Stoke: 1 (Thomas, Huddersfield)
Swansea: 4 (Inoussa, Häcken; Wales, Kilmarnock; Santos, Bolton; Burgess, Ipswich)
Watford: 3 (Bola, Samsonspor; Baxter, Bolton; Kyprianou, Peterborough)
West Brom: 1 (Phillips, Liverpool)
Wrexham: 1 (Hardie, Plymouth)

genuinely what’s the point in selling Souza? He’s good on the ball and good breaking up attacks. He has 2 years on his contract left as well. So why not keep him?!

We are slow off the mark but then again we have a new manager. If we had a DoF it wouldn't really make a difference regarding the manager.

Think it just feels that way because not many transfer rumours are leaking.

Last year, we made our first signing on 1st July (Sam Curtis). We wouldn't bring in the likes of Campbell and Cooper for another 6 weeks.

It depends how long you want to be apart of it for, he clearly wasn't good enough last year fitting in as a collective team otherwise we would have been promoted and it's not like he only played a handful of games either.

There were rumours he wanted to be at a higher profile team to be in contention for the Brazil squad for the World cup which is quite worrying for them since he hasn't played since he was at U20 level.
