Thought he did pretty well when he came on last night, putting himself about and generally doing what Wilder would have asked of him. Seemed unlucky to get booked.

But the coaching staff really need to do some work with him regarding defending opposition corners. Three times now - in the game against Wednesday, in one of the recent away games (can’t remember which) and again last night - he’s been positioned centrally in what might be called the “McBurnie role” and as the ball has come across he’s gone up unchallenged but got himself under it and missed his header completely, causing difficulties thereafter for Cooper and the rest of the defence. Fortunately, it hasn’t cost us a goal yet but it has the potential to do so.

Fine for someone who will still be 18 when the season ends. He shouldn't be expected to start and lead the like so young.

I thought he did well, to be fair. Put himself about and occupied the defenders enough that Hamer, O'Hare and Brooks all had a fair bit of joy in the first half.
He faded though.

Even still, I thought we lost something at the top of the pitch when he went off.
Hard to say though because we'd just scored our goal and Hamer (much improved) came off injured within a few mins also.
A momentum shift was probably due, but it was notable that we struggled for an outball and Watford became a lot more confident.

He's not alone. There should have been a strategic approach to getting the fringe youth players used to playing regular first team football rather than the actual approach which seemed to be to call them into the squad one match then bomb them out for the next six.

He's literally just turned 19. Not many players 18 year olds regularly play. There was no rush. Still isn't really. Will be a teenager all season long.

Part of me wants to loan him to a Rotherham/Doncaster/Chesterfield, get a full season of first team football. Come back to us 'less raw'.

The other half keeps thinking about when we almost let David Brooks go to Chesterfield, we kept him and he had his breakout season.
