Agreed. This season he must push on, and Cannon will come good![]()
You areAgreed.
I keeping thinking I must be the only one who thinks Cannon will be a great asset.
January is such a hard time to join a team, especially one doing well and where your involvement is bit part. His finish v Burnley was one of the most clinical from any player all season. Looks simple, but very very clinical. Then he tried too hard, made wrong decisions because of it. This season - the focus will be on the manager, he can go under the radar and flourish.
Sounds the perfect Number 9I know it was brief, and I know it was enforced, but the lad looks like a real talent. confident, quick, strong, and what a finish. Well done, young man!
Bit of rewriting history in this thread.
Ryan Oné was given chances. Likewise Arblaster, Seriki, Peck, Brooks and others.
We were in an automatic promotion battle. Wilder played his best available players and also managed to blood a lot of youngsters.
Had Oné, or anybody else, made a strong enough case, they'd have got the minutes.
Oné looked great against York City.
Osula and Jebbison, similarly, looked great against weaker opposition.
He's shown some promise, but there's a good chance he isn't ready for Championship football yet. Let's wait and see.
Probably didn’t train hard enough, whatever that means. He's not alone. There should have been a strategic approach to getting the fringe youth players used to playing regular first team football rather than the actual approach which seemed to be to call them into the squad one match then bomb them out for the next six.
I don't even think he looked great last night. He scored 2 and was a nuisance but he also made the wrong decision on a couple more. For me, he needs a 6 month loan in league 1, playing every week. He's not going to be consistent at his age.
That's not to say he played badly. He played well. But his decision making is very mixed.
I remember how this board went mad for Mousset after a friendly against Doncaster.
Yeh , but let's not sell him , please , let him develop for longer thanWhy does this happen every pre-season? A youth player does well against a lower league team and suddenly he's going to be a regular starter and the best player in the division and we'll be lucky to keep him by the end of September.
Every single pre-season!

Well I guess it's the same reason that loan him out to league one happensWhy does this happen every pre-season? This was after relegation when he just totalled cars, constantly 'injured' and ate all the takeaways. The same Mousett that was unplayable at times and undoubtedly contributed to our 9th place PL finish?
Preseason friendlies are no place to judge the quality of players, agreed, but low quality opponents don't make good players shite.
Oné needs loads of game time, l don't think he's level with where Osula was when he left us, but I'm exited to see him play. His stature and skill set are relatively unique, especially given his age. That's exciting and it's okay to be exited.
Yeh , thousands maybe ...Well I guess it's the same reason that loan him out to league one happens
Because we have thousands of fans with individual perspective and opinions
Truth be known we played defensively and brought him as a supplement to experience pros. Ryan has been highly thought of for a couple of years and will go all the way in the game according to coaching staff. I’ll be very disappointed if he is sold because I think he’ll score more than any striker has done in a long time if we keep him this season.Bit of rewriting history in this thread.

He still owes us a corner flag...Controversial thought but I'd be on the phone to Jamie Vardy about coaching. Hate the prick but reckon he would be a goldmine of knowledge for the young lads
Peck managed it. Osula would have but we sold him for a good amount. That was just last year. Why does this happen every pre-season? A youth player does well against a lower league team and suddenly he's going to be a regular starter and the best player in the division and we'll be lucky to keep him by the end of September.

If wed gone up hed have been kept and loaned out. I think hes in no man's land this season, not quite good enough yet to be trusted with a starting position but if we loan him to div one and he does nothing his value plummets.Yeh , but let's not sell him , please , let him develop for longer than
DCL
Jebbo
Osula
One is an example of where player trading might work , but we have to resist cashing in early.

That would be an incredible season for him, never mind breakout. What would count as a 'breakout' season for One?

I didnt go to the game but I have heard mixed reports about his performance. Some were coloured by his goals and thought he was brilliant but I heard a few question his fitness and that he seemed to be blowing heavily for a young lad that only played 45 mins and were questioning whether he would be able to hack Selles all action pressing style .Why does this happen every pre-season? A youth player does well against a lower league team and suddenly he's going to be a regular starter and the best player in the division and we'll be lucky to keep him by the end of September.

He’s has is last game and he was very good. I think he’ll have a lot of very good games this season as long as we don’t cash in. No less than 20m and add ons because he’s a bright future. If wed gone up hed have been kept and loaned out. I think hes in no man's land this season, not quite good enough yet to be trusted with a starting position but if we loan him to div one and he does nothing his value plummets.
For those reasons I think there's a very good chance he becomes Osula mark 2 and we cash in on a PL team taking a chance on him at 10m.
