What I did like about him was that he scored one with his left, the other with his right.
How often do we see more experienced strikers determined to get the ball onto their favoured foot only to then be closed down and lose the chance to score.
I know the opposition defending might not have been that great the other night but I do like a striker that is prepared to use both feet to shoot.

It was a 45 minute cameo. In which he showed excellent promise. He'll get more minutes in the coming friendlies against higher opposition. Let's wait and see. There's a player of some quality there. Time will tell.

Agreed.

I keeping thinking I must be the only one who thinks Cannon will be a great asset.

January is such a hard time to join a team, especially one doing well and where your involvement is bit part. His finish v Burnley was one of the most clinical from any player all season. Looks simple, but very very clinical. Then he tried too hard, made wrong decisions because of it. This season - the focus will be on the manager, he can go under the radar and flourish.

I don't even think he looked great last night. He scored 2 and was a nuisance but he also made the wrong decision on a couple more. For me, he needs a 6 month loan in league 1, playing every week. He's not going to be consistent at his age.

That's not to say he played badly. He played well. But his decision making is very mixed.

I remember how this board went mad for Mousset after a friendly against Doncaster.
For a short space of time Mousset was easily the most talented player at the club…I think quite a lot of us went mad for him.

Selles has given him his chance (admittedly in pres season, and in just 2x45 minutes) but even playing slightly out of position he's looked an absolute menace.
We all know what he COULD grow into, but he's starting to show genuine signs of achieving his potential now. Im not sure we'll send him out on loan you know, and if we do I don't think it'll be for the entire season. With Brewster gone, Cannon not hitting form and Moore being a complete different type of striker, if we're playing 3 upto I think he'll get quite a lot of opportunities if he stays.

I thought the goal aside he was okay today and was better against York. Shortly after scoring he should've passed across goal to Moore, who was in a much better position to score. That said he'd scored 3 in 2 and his confidence will be sky high and he wants to impress the manager. He's bound to be a bit selfish, but when the season kicks off against tougher opponents you can't blow chances like that. He'll learn.

he’s certainly done himself no harm this preseason. And possibly the role he’s in suits him more than playing as a main striker at this stage of his career

I do wonder if there might be a 3peat though: from memory

DCL - showed very little and to my mind didn’t really look like a player . Had a preseason where he he really stood out in game and looked like a different player and then got sold.

osula - showed a few flashes in the PL. then stood out in preseason coming in from the left like osula. Immediate sold

one - ??

Hopefully not doing his asking price any harm - he seems to have the physical attributes needed to succeed

Technically it’s 3 in 1 given he’s played 90 mins only so far

out of all the promising young strikers we’ve had over the years, Calvert Lewin, Olsula, Jebbinson, he’s the only one that’s actually looked like a goal threat for us. Let’s hope we can keep this one.

Just need to crack his fitness, may need a tailored training programme?

I don’t think it is his fitness, he looks a very strong, fit lad.

From what I saw of him last year he looked very raw, didn’t seem to be in the right places a lot of the time and made generally poor decisions. That’ll come with experience and coaching.

If we were to play a “big man”, right now I would pick One over Moore. Experience or not, currently Moore consistently miscontrols the ball, passes it directly to the opposition and fluffs good chances. One may be raw, but he is more effective.

Different types of big men

Let's not forget Moore did a good job towards the end of the season. A new system might not suit him. He didn't fit the 1 up top last year either. I'd have rather had Mcburnie in that one.

Moore is definitely better in a support role. But his finishing has gone from steady to ridiculously bad.

If he can’t get a start in the 9 with the performances the players ahead of him are putting in, he never will.

I’d love an interviewer at the next presser to ask Wilder what’s going on with Oné. We are struggling to score and one of our strikers has been left out of the squad recently. Has he regressed, or is something else going on with him.
Ive been thinking the same. We are crying out for something different or additive up front and hes not getting a look in.

Is he injured or is he following a similar trajectory to Brooks and Seriki, look like potential stars when they play their first couple of games but then find it hard to kick on in what must be a very competitive training group never mind division?

Hopefully it's just an age thing and he will come good but it is a little strange hes not even getting a look in from the bench. Can he do any less than Cannon does when he comes on ?

Id quite like to see him getting involved more.
For a start he's a presence and if played alongside another striker you'd like to think he would be at least a bit of a handful.

Ings coming into the frame more does help us up top too you'd think. But I would like to see more of One, given Cannon's united career still has yet to take off at all.

Looking at the bench on Saturday it was fairly balanced in that it covered all positions. This limits us to 2 strikers. You could argue that we didn't need Barry as we had Seriki and Burrows who can operate the wide positions though not out and out wingers. That would allow a third striker.

I think One should be on the bench as he offers things that the other strikers don't when chasing a game (hight and pace). He is not anywhere near being a regular starter but I think he can offer something as an impact sub, certainly more than Cannon can. However the only way I can see Wilder putting him on the bench is if we go with 2 strikers from the start or one of the other three gets injured.

Wilder picking the Ghost ahead of One just compounds his mistake in buying him in the first place.
One showed he was worth a squad place earlier this season and sidelining him does nothing for his development or for us as a club that will probably need the transfer money for League One.

Looked way off in the preseason friendlies in terms of fitness.
I actually thought he looked really good in the pre season friendlies. I thought he might possibly a force to be reckoned with.
Having said that the opposition were no where near the opposition we're playing against now.
But with the way Cannon is currently performing, or should I say underperforming, maybe One should be given a chance at least from off the bench

One’ probably isn’t ready…

….. but I’d take him 1000 times before Cannon..

Looked ready in pre season.

Bit we looked half decent in pre season too.

The reality is the real stuff is a level higher. He's 19 all season long. No rush.
