I've been asked to produce a painting to commemorate the clubs 125th anniversary. This will take the form of a squad photo featuring fan favourites from all time. Doesn't have to be just players either - iconic managers, fans, officials etc may have a slot in there aswell.

So, who's in? Doesn't have to be the 'best' players but the ones you'd intrinsically link to SUFC as fans of the club.

No but I recon I could have a good shot at distinguishing Fatty Foulkes from Wayne Allison! :p

Will the background be from the days of a ground with only three sides..

To be true to our entire history Nudger Needham, Billy Gillespie and Fred Tunstall, all in our top ten appearances for the club plus Gillespie and Tunstall also in our top 10 scorers.

Harry Johnson junior is our all time top scorer. Jimmy Dunne our most prolific scorer in goals per game (5th highest overall but 167 goals in 190 appearances).

Also, someone who doesn't get mentioned often enough but is our 7th highest in number of appearances and capped 5 times by England, Graham Shaw.

In fact I'd like to see us re-sign Johnson and Dunne in this window.

I was asked to do a similar thing about 12 years ago by what was then called the Hall of Fame. This was my effort;

Badger, G Shaw, Foulke, J Shaw, Hagan, Currie, Edwards, Needham, Gillespie, Deane, Woodward.

The brief was to include at least one player from every decade of the 20th century, who must have played at least 250 games for the club, and which could have formed a team in a recognisable line up.

Hadnt seen that before - quality stuff. Consider my thunder stolen! :D
I'd got more of a training ground huddle/group of mates in mind than a squad photo though.

PS - the portraits in the John Street stair well, are they yours?

I don't think I have any portraits in the John Street stairwell - I think there are some which were done by a "lady friend" of Kevin McCabe somewhere at the Lane.

I did have some of my prints on display at the Academy, don't know if they are still there, I haven't been there for a while.

If part of the brief is to create talking points ergo garnering extra publicity, there's no way you can't have The Maestro Tickler.

If Monty gets a nod, then that really woudl be surrealism at it`s best...

One would be rather unkind to suggest it, and i certainly am, but dog shit on the sole of a boot would suffice for our Nick.

Presty, just a suggestion for the "scenario" of the painting.
In view of the number of potential Blades that will be suggested to you, why not consider doing something along the lines of the Sgt Peppers album cover with all of them stood on the Kop? Just a thought for you.

My suggestions btw: John Harris, Ian Porterfield, Sam Hashimi, Neil Warnock, TC, Woody, (in fact, all of the 70-71 promotion team), Deano, Agana, Morgs and Brian the Blade. ;)
