Cooper was straight forward ish wasn’t it? You’re right though it’s a difficult market with everyone fishing for the same players.

I remember Gus Hamer signing coming out the blue & signing the next day
Hamer is a great example, that really was fast. Cooper i felt took slightly too long, so much so we had to play Davies one fixture while Cooper was in attendance

When was the last time we had a nice straight forward, relatively timely transfer?
Favourite ones got to be when we signed Martin cranie on a free. No media speculation, no links, just announced on the day of a match with no warning

Agree but the reason is because we’re going for higher quality players, which means they tend to have other options, so we are up against rival bidders.

But the main reason is we don’t exactly know our finances when we keep yo-yoing between the PL and Championship
So how can we exactly negotiate a deal? The answer is loads of imaginative clauses and bonuses, which take longer to negotiate.

You hear it quite a lot regards our prospective signings that contracts have been agreed, it’s a “done deal”.
Then a week later it’s still not done, then we hear it’s just the small details (clauses and bonuses) that are holding things up.

News on this was everywhere not long ago and now nothing. For those that use x and other media has it just gone quiet for us or Sunderland, Burnley etc also?

Van Nistelrooy we asked about transfers in his press conference today. He said "we all know about the Tom Cannon situation, but I don't want any other players to leave"

I think it’s pretty clear that this going quiet is because the player is deciding who he wants to sign for. Genuine question and try and be as unbiased as possible, who do you think is the more attractive club right now? Us or Sunderland?

As a club us , obviously but if your going for the larger crowds then them.
Location wise Sheffield's miles in front other than they have the coast .
And I'm sure he would like to play for wilder

I genuinely think it’s very close both young squads both clubs with very clear aspirations. They’ve got the better facilities but I’d argue there’s no better man to sell the club to a player than Wilder as we’ve seen.

Don't know about better facilities mate, unless you mean there ground? But Sheffield itself is a lot better than Sunderland regarding the areas, and bang in the middle of the country. Only my opinion for what it's worth mate 👍

Both shit holes but Sunnerlan near to Newcastle for the banging nights out. Sheffield is near to Rotherham and Barnsley for.. the... er.........

Agree Newcastle is a great night out
But travel slightly further and you have Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham.
Regards location, Sheffield is geographically right in the centre of England, right next to the M1 motorway.
Don’t think you can get a better location regards travel to anywhere in England, shame we didn’t have a better/ faster road over the Pennines.

Agree about Newcastle, brilliant pubs& restaurants. Sheffield got some great pubs & restaurants as well. Sunderland... well it's Sunderland I suppose 😂

I liked it when we got the videos on YouTube ready in advance for the announcement but didn't know people could see planned videos on YouTube back then so Duffy and hussey signings leaked that way

If its down to the manager selling it to the player welcome to Sheffield Tom and start hitting the back of the net 2 a game will do

Sunderlands facilities are great. They're Cat 1 for starters which in our current state cant get.

Their academy of light training set up is a lot better than Shirecliffe. That’s not to say United can’t improve our facilities with the new HSBC site but they do have better first team facilities than us currently.

I love how the big selling point of Sheffield is how easy it is to get out of and go to other places 😂

We’ve got most home bargains per square mile… you’ll never sing that

I was listening to a football podcast I can’t remember which one but they were saying that none of Sunderland players live in or near Sunderland and darent live in newcastle

Better facilities, yet our academy graduates still piss all over theirs!
That’s closer than you’d think as well. They’ve had Henderson and Pickford in recent years plus Honeyman, Maja, Mumba, , Whatmore and now Rigg. We’ve definitely been more prolific in the same time period and Walker is better than Henderson and Pickford he’s arguably been the best in his position in the world for a good spell but they’re a very respectable academy in terms of the players they produce.

Aye
+ Patterson, Michael Gray, Michael Bridges, Jack Colback
&
Egan, Hourihane, Smith (‘son of Pele’), Thirlwell (!!!) who all played for us (& Waghorn whom we were keen on),; afore that Henderson (M), Bolton, Arnott,
