Mcburnie

Why? How many goals do you think he would have compared to Moore? How many shit penalties would he have taken and free headers would he miss, like Moore has. Or do you prefer a striker that looks like he’s constantly running through treacle, can’t finish, can’t hold up the ball and can’t take penalties? If he’d stayed he would be our top scorer by a considerable distance given the chances Moore has been given and fucked up
Like these penalties?

I agree. I also think that the club was also doing what it needed to do in trying to cut its cloth after relegation and knowing it needed a huge turnover in players.

If McBurnie was on £20k a week (I believe that was pretty much confirmed as being his basic before he left), the club offering him £12k a week having gone back into the Championship with a promotion charge very much not on the cards this season, was i think, a perfectly acceptable offer bearing in mind the time he hasn't been available to us for various reasons. Of course, he was well within his rights to look about, but unless we have offered and then withdrawn a contract offer then I don't see where the 'club mucking him about' thing comes from. We made him an offer, he thought he could get more elsewhere. That's it really.

Broadly speaking, I think that the £20k to £25k a week figure that you mention was what he was on in the championship under his initial contract, and was doubled when we went up to the PL for the 1 year renewal.

He wanted the doubled figure as his new base wage, with the ability for it to increase by 50% on promotion & goals. We offered him a figure that was similar to the £20k for the renewal, plus the ability to increase it on promotion.

I don't want him back because the shop has sailed. Nothing more

He left because the Prince didn’t have budget for his wages, instead wilder and the club tried to keep him with what they had, knowing that other cash needed to be used for a rebuild.

Anyone that thinks a forward line consisting of BBD OliMac and Campbell isn’t quality at this level needs shaking.

Would you not have Ndiaye and Berge back then? McB is way better than Moore. He scores the chances Moore has woefully missed so far. Difference between going up and not.

McBurnie makes sense on loan if we have BBD as well.

Although like I mentioned already fitness was an issue and he spent over 200 days injured when he was with us. He wasn't injured the same way Brewster has been but he certainly was in and out of the team with various niggling injury issues.

Finding a combination of all of these players on the pitch at the same time would be lethal, it’s got everything.

BBD, OliMac, Campbell, Hamer, Souza and O’Hare.
Might be hard to get them all in but Campbell RW, Brereton LW, McBurnie CF and Hamer CAM would be absolutely full of goals - I think we'd even manage another 3 goal haul at some point, to repeat the famous night v Oxford

Moving away from whether he will come-does this mean not 4 months from ‘I was getting stale and needed a fresh start’ he’s regretting it?

Everywhere else he’s been he’s been pretty much an automatic first pick when fit. Now he isn’t, which probably doesn’t sit well with him. But La Liga is possibly a step above his abilities as a player, as was the PL.

Personally I think Moore does the job mcburnie did and if we are bringing anyone in it should be a striker who can run the channels and press to suit the new formation we are playing.

They are good enough at this level but ask the question in 7 months if all goes and we are kicking off int PL. I’d like to see us use McBamby if we can’t get Kone from Wycombe (or a n other striker), buy BBD and retain Campbell for chance we get promoted.

I'd have the other 2 back in a heartbeat. They're luxury players, particularly Ndiaye.

There are plenty of strikers out there who can score the same amount of goals McBurnie can. All of similar cost too.

I always liked McBurnie and defended him on here, but I'd rather is invest in pace up front

Nah.

What it means is that he has had a “chat” with the LP gaffer, who has confirmed he has been downgraded from 1st choice CF at the club to 5th choice in the space of 5 short months, the conclusion being that his minutes on the pitch will be, bluntly, limited.

Understand the reasons why this is now the case. It’s not cos the suns too hot for his pale skin out there!!!!

Hopefully he stops where he is. We can and should be doing better.

I wondered when you’d pop up mate! 😁

I actually think he’d do very well in our current set up, as a loan this would be perfect to help get us over the line, we don’t need him tied down, we need him as a better alternative to what we have in the Championship right now.

Everyone without a personal vendetta against Ol agrees with this pal, don't worry.

On a loan until the end of the season, it just makes sense from our perspective.
If we got promoted, that's when we look at other options.
He's shown he has a great understanding with BBD and is a big upgrade on our current number 9.
I think he'd be a success in this new setup.

Obviously given Dronnie's concrete ties with the Las Palmas backroom staff, it sounds like they'd be willing to get Ol on a flight as soon as possible.
