Femi Seriki

He very nearly nutmegged his opposing LB towards the end of the game.
Had he pulled it off, he'd have got to the byline and we had a huge opportunity. It was an audacious attempt and spoke to the confidence he showed the second he walked on the field. A really promising showing.

I wonder if he'd even have got a shot if Bogle hadn't left, was an unused sub in the York friendly when we fielded two different 11s and Curtis played well, but really took his opportunity when he got it. He's better going forward than defensively so not sure we'd have relied on him as backup to someone who was defensively a bit dodgy.

I don't understand how he struggled to get any minutes at Rochdale and Rotherham.

While he's not going to be first choice, I love that we can bring him and Brooks on against tiring defences.

I thought Buyabu would be the one to come through this season but he seems to have regressed a little while Seriki has looked very good.
Wilder always gets the best out of players.

He was deemed incapable of a role at Rotherham. Wilder gets him minutes for a team trying to win the league.

Whilst we rightfully got excited about the prospects of blaster , brooks and peck , sereki looks to be at least on a level with all of them in terms of potential. Quick, strong skillful , good defending and going forward. Not many of those about .

When Brooks and Seriki came on they worked that flank together. The Derby defenders were so preoccupied with the threat of Brooks…They simply couldn’t cope with Seriki’s surging runs.

For all the great runs and attacking intent, we need end product from them.
Andre Brooks fluffed his lines a couple of times when coming inside, not for the first time this season. He's got a decent strike on him, he needs to use it.

He’s like Bogle but better also good defending that last ditch tackle when Derby had a break on

Feriki over Gilchrist for me offers way more whether a player is on loan and has been paid for with a decent loan fee shouldn’t matter

Play seriki and we have a Djed Spence player on our books 🤷‍♂️

He definitely offers a different option to Gilchrist which could be invaluable in home games where teams sit in. I felt in the first half that Derby were doubling up on our creative players and letting Gilchrist have the ball as he is limited going forwards.
Having said that Gilchrist has been fantastic so far and deserves the shirt, especially away from home.
It has the early feel of potentially offering what Baldock / Bogle did in terms of pure defence vs attacking quality. Let’s just hope these two can be fit at the same time to give us that option!

I didn’t think much to Seriki the first couple of times I saw him and thought he would amount to being a bit part player and a career knocking about the lower reaches but his development has been excellent and that is down to two thing. One his attitude and willingness to learn and the other one is the quality of coaching.

The other observation I’ve got is how most of the players who come through the ranks always seem to look like excellent footballers and have the right sort of attitude.

Again like Peck has come of age & certainly doesn’t lack confidence, offers us more to us offensively than Gilchrist ( that’s not district to him ) . Again I think the lad is gonna more than okay and his part this season , so good to some of the young uns are now up to the physical side of the game . The games come thick & fast in this division & injuries / suspensions come with it . Looks more than capable ..👍⚔️

I thought he was excellent. Brooke was good, taking players on, Serikiwas better. Turned fullback inside out.
Agree,he looks a real prospect, doesn’t look fazed and confident. Andre looked class and improving against lesser players than last season but he’s confident and takes the defence on,won’t always work, but carry on . If ONLY he had the end product before he gets a nosebleed,he wouldn’t be with us then .

Seriki & Brooks combination play was evident in pre season but they’ve taken it into the league. Would be very intrigued to see if they can be just as dangerous together from the start.

Personally having different options on the bench when the games more open shouldn't be seen as a negative but a positive. Bringing on Gilchrist late on wouldn't be much use if wanting to chase or attack a game.

It has got to be a huge advantage for these young players to be on the field with each other. They know each others games and actually trust each other. I think it is quite interesting that Wilder when he came in picked the likes of Brookes and Arblaster. I don't really recall him bringing youngsters through when he was with us before. I guess he had nothing to lose and in the past when going for promotions everything to lose.

Peck 2003.Arblaster 2004. Brooks 2003.Seriki 2003.Burrows 2002.

He's got the one thing you can not coach....raw pace.

Combine that with how he's developed physically and the footballing technique he's developed through our excellent academy and he could potentially be another 'Kyle Walker'

Now to get there he has to develop the positional and football sense that hopefully will come with experience.

A very exciting few years to see how he develops and whether we can hang on to him as players with his physical attributes don't go unnoticed
