Femi Seriki

I was at Kidderminster tonight, Seriki was the best player on the pitch and ran at their defence at every opportunity, he was a class above and put at least three great balls across their six yard box that were just begging to be tapped home.
He needs a higher loan next season, more of a challenge, he’s too good for Conference North or U23’s football.
Greta to read. Hopefully the Forest game just whetted his appetite.

Still young and Bogle and Baldock are both ahead of him. A couple of years of loans lower down won't do him any harm at all.

Think he’s there because we couldn’t loan him anywhere else after the mistake to send him to Belgium?

Realise it’s only 1 game (against a good side) but the lad was (currently) a long way short of what’s needed in Championship
Surely better to be playing (regularly & winning a few) a bit lower down the leagues ?
He was no worse than Robinson when he first started for us. Takes time to bed into the team and tactics.

Think Seriki, Osula, Gordon and Jebbison need a League 1 full season next year to develop. Johnson at Forest was out of his depth before his time at Lincoln. Think it will be the same for our lads.
I'm surprised we haven't looked at Chesterfield for any temporary loans like we did Southend etc they were crying out for a striker when Tshimanga got injured Osula for example would have seen them a lot higher up than they are and it's got to be better than u18/23s with a short recall clause

Yeah, he went there after United recalled Kai Gordon, after just a few games, as replacements go I imagine they’re very happy. Certainly seems to have worked out well for all parties.

Boston (including Seriki and Dewhurst) lost 2-0 in the play-offs final at York (including Clayton Donaldson).

Watched it. Seriki has a long way to go before we can consider him as a viable squad member. Always tries to be positive but has a heavy first touch and dribbles sometimes when he should pass. Apparently Dewhurst has had an excellent season for Boston, took a knock yesterday but soldiered on.

Good luck to him but I think some of the more hyperbolic comments on some of youngsters and how a whole host of them were ready to step up now has been proven as nonsense

Should be a good place for him to develop and mature. Their manager prefers a wing back system. Seriki's good at bombing forward, but needs to improve other parts of his game.

Rochdale could play a back four of ex-Blades next season:

Seriki Ebanks-Landell Graham AidyWhite

We seem to have links with Rochdale. As you say, good move. After the Beerschott disaster, it’s an opportunity for him to get back on track. Up to him now.

It looks like l2 is the destination for the youngsters this time round. Mad to think we had to throw them into games last year.

Seriki needs minutes on the pitch, so l2 makes sense. He seems to be following Broadbent about. I hope he manages to secure a starting place.

Boyes has gone to League One.

Shows how far away he actually is fron Champ level. The club didn't do him any favours last season and appear to actually have set him back after the ridiculous loan to Beerschot. Also just shows some on here who expect a raft of U23s to breakthrough in the first team, just what a gulf there is between the respective levels

A few love to say that our U23s aren't ready to step up. Amissah, Broadbent, Arblaster, Osula, Jebbison, Wharton, Ndiaye and Gordon are all involved today:cool:

I'm all for giving them game time during pre-season but how many of the do you think could cut it at Champ level this season? I'd say probably one of them.

RND and Ndiaye stepped up last season. Hopefully a couple might next season.
I've not seen anyone suggest that "a raft of U23s" will breakthrough. I just thought it was odd that a couple of posters felt the need to make that point.

Are the Hyperbolics Anonymous or are you going to name and shame them?

😅

Don't recall individual posters names often they have to be particularly idiotic for me to notice but there were a handful suggesting so.

2 nil down to Scunthorpe right now...

Let's see how many games he plays EC. If he's good enough then great but there is also a danger he could be out of his depth, just as Seriki showed last season.

If Utd's academy are able to create a conveyor belt of talent able to reach the first team (which probably should be its overall objective), then nobody would be happier about it than me. However, the point I was making previously is that far too many on here think it's an easy progression from U23s and have little or no awareness of the gulf between the levels. As stats show, precious few academy lads make a living out of the game, with even fewer following a direct pathway in their club's first team. The ambition to gain Cat 1 may enable the club to attract more of the cream of young talent and give itself a better chance of achieving the objective. I'd say that with Ndiaye breaking through last season and a couple of other lads 'knocking on the door' of the first team, the academy is already overachieving. However, that may be being exaggerated due to the number of long term injuries to first team players and a better indicator as to where the academy lads are in relation to the first team may be to review in 6 months time.
