Horrible agricultural team put to bed. Parkinsons face was a picture. Only disappointment of second half was letting them score with last kick of match. gPeck very impressive and isn't frightened to mix it with older stronger players.

England ultimately lost on penalties with Brewster one of the players who missed his spot-kick.

The England youth international was the only player in the shootout to miss, as the Gunners prevailed on penalties

He has history. That stutter run is shit. I saw him score one for England where it only went in cos he scuffed it.

Cruised to the win there. Decent display, especially considering the overall lack of experience in much of the starting XI.

Good debut from Souttar. Great to have someone at the back who can win a header. Peck looked thoroughly comfortable, even under pressure. Would happily see him as part of the squad going forward if we don't sign another midfielder.

Shame for Brewster to not score tonight, but he did a lot of things well. The run in behind for 2-1 was a particular moment of real intelligence.

Thought Grbic did fine. Conceding 2 goals doesn't look great on paper, but he was done no favours by the defence in both cases. Failed to win 1st or 2nd balls for 0-1, and a series of individual errors left him exposed for 4-2. Also think the lad who scored got away with poor technique on the shot - hits it centrally with pace, when you really should be going for near of far post. You can tell Grbic's training was in effect there - had to try and adapt quickly and couldn't quite do it in time.

Very pleasing to see Cooper in the crowd. Seems likely that we have that one confirmed tomorrow.

Seriki going down early was a concern. The fact that RB is the position we have the least cover for at the moment makes it even worse. Now we only have Gilchrist, so I hope we make signing another for that position a priority.

Hope now that we can get a more interesting tie for round 2. Donny away would be nice - getting to see Billy again. Not a shitty home tie against a team with a chip on their shoulder. Please and thank you.

Always just a friendly really but we controlled and dominated that bar a few scares on goal. Little bit disappointed we allowed them to get a second but overall very pleased.

We look like we have squad depth now.

impressed with:

Slimane
Peck
Souttar
Trusty
Brewster (general play and made two goals)
Seriki

Very good performances.

The future is bright.

And your point is, I know let's knock our player, who as been through the mill, and now trying to build his confidence. Unbelievable prick 😒

His biggest strength is his clean striking. I don't know why he's over complicating a free shot at goal from 12 yards out.

Laces through it. Give him no chance.

Great to see him out there though. Some vital minutes under his belt.

Horrible agricultural team put to bed. Parkinsons face was a picture. Only disappointment of second half was letting them score with last kick of match. Gribic had played well until that moment.

Peck very impressive and isn't frightened to mix it with older stronger players. Fletcher needs to have a look at himself trying to fight with a young kid who had schooled him and his team mates all match. Souttar got 90 minutes and improved as the game went on. Even for someone of his size at 6 foot 7 I suspect he hasn't had to deal as much hoof as he did tonight.

As everyone said you knew Brewster would miss because his penalty record is poor. Shame the own goal wasn't credited to him, the run off the ball deserved it. Marsh showed his natural goal scoring instinct with his goal and good cameos from Hampson and Boyes. RND back on the pitch was a plus. Only downside was Serikis injury. Hope its not too serious. Would have liked to have seen him play for 90 minutes as he was causing mayhem in their defence.

He's been out for that long that I'm sure till take him a little while to get back into the swing of things
Yeah probably. Was there at Luton when he got injured, and we could see he was absolutely devastated. So pleased to see him back out there.

My point is simple. He’s not very good at penalties.

Really enjoyable game..how good was Serricki that first 20 minutes.
Souttar had good game, headed everything away, decent on the deck aswell.
Peck though,fantastic performance,ran the show.

I have just seen the United team!!!
What a joke. Wilder playing the reserves/ U21s. I won’t be watching it as I would only get angry when we lose. Anyone actually paying at BL to watch this side Wilder has put out must be bonkers.
I hope we win but I’m not holding my breath.
I paid. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

So you pick out the one fault from him tonight, rest was good, why can't you say shame about the penalty miss, but overall great performance by him. Well done Rhian, its not hard

Dear Wrexham, Deadpool and your mate I’ve never heard of, thanks for coming

Can't add much other than Peck was outstanding. Looked a like senior player from start to finish. High level professional football is hard, and he'll have sterner tests than Wrexham but he looks like he's got every chance of making it.

Ok so it’s only two games. Preston were below average and against Wrexham we (and they) played weakened teams. Yes it’s early days, we will have much sterner tests and undoubtedly games where we will be shit.

But….

The team play in a manner similar to the previous Wilder teams. On the front foot, well organised, the team moving forwards in a shape, retaining possession well, all comfortable on the ball and good decision making.
Has the makings of a really good team and squad this.

Was an interesting run out for some of the youngsters compared to the pre-season games. Boyes looked pretty comfortable at left back and you can tell he has experience playing men's football compared to some of the others. Seriki was great while he lasted. Peck was outstanding and really composed compared to Coulibaly's sometimes sloppy performance at the side of him. Hampson and Marsh's inexperience showed a bit at times by comparison but they still did well and Marsh's follow up to the penalty showed he's a natural finisher. Gilchrist looked a bit dodgy on some of his positioning and awareness when he came on but he's only a young lad too.

Of the rest, Brewster played quite well and at least showed promise, Souttar had a good debut. Slimane was fine, Trusty and Grbic still don't fill me with confidence but it was good that both of them did things to actually get cheers from the crowd. Hopefully that's Grbic's last game for us and he can at least leave after a positive game rather than a succession of failures (even though he still let two in).

Leaving aside the good performances all over the pitch, for me, it was just so nice to see us winning again (after last season).

Lovely stuff tonight.

Peck will captain United one day if he stays.

We can survive without Anel if he leaves.

I was sad about Osbourne leaving, but we can do without him too.

One is a big horrible bastard that can fill the McB off the bench role if required.

I still think we need one more proven striker, but tonight has given me so much hope for the rest of the squad, especially with Cooper in the stands to come in.

My guess is Seriki pulled a groin muscle. How bad will determine the layoff, so yes hopefully nothing too serious.
