I rate Bogle. Still young, loads of experience, quick feet, athletic, turn of pace. His defending wasn’t the best at Prem level but easily good enough for the champ. I think he’ll go on to have a few years in the lower Prem / upper champ, similar to Matt Lowton. Probably worth 10m+ in today’s market if under a long contract. He’s one I would have liked to have kept.Didn't we sign Bogle for about 5m with Lowe?
If so, getting 5m for a player that hasn't improved (imo) since hes been with us and 1 year left on contract is pretty good business.
He is replaceable, especially in a back 4
That said, we haven’t been in a financial position to offer long, lucrative, contracts to all our first team over the last couple of years. We have to hedge our bets, and pick and choose where to invest our scarce resources. Seems like we’ve done that with O’Hare but not with Bogle. Fair enough - right back is arguably the easiest position in the team to replace with a capable loan and 5m with one year left on his deal isn’t terrible business. I don’t hate the lad nor particularly blame him for going to Leeds. He always seems a decent guy and a hard worker. If we invest the money well (which I think we have done with O’Hare and Moore) then might be a decent deal for all involved.
