I don't want us to sound like Coventry fans when it comes to losing a player. He's a very good player, and this season even as a RB over a rwb I'd still fancy him to be a very good player. We also do t know why he wont sign a new deal. I suspect he doesn't want to go up only to have a other season like the one we've just had and maybe wants to run down his contract to see what offers he gets at the end. If we get promoted I reckon he could maybe stay if he does stay which seems unlikely.

Saying all that, he is defensively average but I think in this league we'd get away with it.

I'm ok with him going, disappointed its Leeds and whilst they're a bigger club they haven't achieved anything more than what we have in this century. I look forward to the Leeds match already! Us and them going for promotion just seems to go in hand! I digress but we matched them back in 1990 with a squad that cost a fraction of theirs, we beat them to promotion in 2006 and again in 2019.

With Farke in charge im confident we'll beat them hem again to promotion.

We move on, and one thing we as a club are good at is signing or producing strong right backs!

At end of day he wants to leave so what do we do keep someone who doesn’t want to be here? Shackleton and O’Hare have chosen us over Leeds this season so I certainly don’t think it’s a lack of ambition he’s made it clear he won’t sign a new deal. As it stands at the minute this squad we’ve got now would be challenging for promotion I don’t care what anyone says. We’re a goalkeeper away from top 2 id say. I’d still expect Souza and Anel to go and us to replace them but we will have a better squad than we started last season with that’s for sure.

Just my opinion T Blade, but the squad isn’t capable of being a top 2 team, nowhere near. An 11 that can probably be competitive, but we all know you don’t win promotion with a decent 11, you win it with a squad with depth and history tells us that with our injury record we’ll more likely be languishing than pushing

Premier league footballer all day long, will play the majority of his football in the top flight, with or without Leeds.
IMO of course 😊

So does that mean maybe we were the club talking to Barry Fry at Peterborough yesterday about Burrows? As mentioned by their chairman on Talksport yesterday? Just a thought if we are going to have some cash.

Final thoughts on Bogle from me. There's not much loyalty in football and it goes from the club's perspective as well as players. Usually the exception is where there's a player who's playing at a club where the player is roughly at their level so has less reason to move on, i.e. Monty.

Bogle isn't from Sheffield (I know Monty is from Leeds ironically) he's not come through the clubs academy either, he's played for us for a few seasons and he will probably see himself as wanting to move to the next level and/or he'll want the best financially for himself and his family, I think we can all relate to that. I do appreciate Leeds in our division is technically a sideways move but I suspect they'll be giving him a decent wage increase and he probably thinks Leeds if they go up have a better chance if staying up than we would.

It does remind me of the Berge situation this and maybe without knowing all the facts of what's going on it's unwise to be too critical.

Shame it's Leeds, partly because it's Leeds, but more because they're a promotion rival. Players move on though all the time obviously, they'll be someone else coming in his place and who knows it could be the next Vas Borbokis, that'd do nicely!

Can’t argue with the fee if he’s not signing a new deal. But it’s another position to replace so hope we’ve got irons in the fire.

We risk again going into the season undercooked (CB, RB, GK, AM) and on negative points - hardly the recipe for promotion

Separate question about why so few people are willing to sign new contracts with us.

If we kept Bogle, Anel, and Souza and added a Goalkeeper, Striker and a centre half we would be.
But if what it looks like we are selling those 3 players then we are along way off, all three would walk into any Championship side and two of them are going to be playing in a higher division..

Another one who misses as many as he plays through injury.

Always liked him but let’s get an RB in that can defend and likely to play a full season.
The myth that he can't defend.
While he might have struggled last season in the best league in the world but let's be honest 90% of our players did, he'll be more than fine in the Championship infact I will go as far to say he'll be one of the best RB in the division.
Big loss and one we will struggle to replace.

£5m is a good fee for Bogle entering the last year of his contract. I can’t help feeling many wouldn’t be as bothered about him going a) if it wasn’t Leeds and b) the squad wasn’t so threadbare.

In reality, we’ve had Bogle for 4 seasons and I’m not sure he’s kicked on and improved in any area of his game - goals, assists, defending, crossing, and although he played all last season, he was out for a long time prior to that.

The promotion season really sticks in my mind when thinking about Bogle. George was injured and Bogle came in, but was in horrendous form. Most talk about Doyle replacing Norwood and McAtee’s rise to prominence as being instrumental in getting us over the line. But arguably George regaining fitness and ousting Bogle was just as important.

If George had been fitter last season Bogle would have been invariably benched. Defensively he’ll always be suspect, and although he was one of the few bright sparks from a car crash season, I think he’s reached his ceiling and would be less effective in a back 4.

yeah 5m final year of contract and doesnt want to sign another one good deal for both clubs we will either bring a premier league loan right back in or maybe play shackleton there with curtis as back up

Certainly looks like we have an issue in getting guys to sign extended deals, the club will have to shoulder some blame but it cannot be entirely on the club for this. Bogle has made it clear he won't so getting a fee now for him makes sense.

“He’s always injured” is a myth, he struggled a few years ago but played 34 games in the prem last season, if you think that’s bad don’t look at Shackleton or O’Hares record.

“He can’t defend” again comes from when he first signed, his defending particularly 1v1 has come on leaps and bounds, yes Baldock was better but that was his main strength. Compare it to the dross we’ve had on the left the last few years and it shows Bogle’s not as bad as everyone makes out.

But if he doesn’t want to stay then taking £5m for him is fine with me, just please replace him for a proper RB as our youth players there aren’t ready yet and sticking Shackleton there permanently isn’t the answer.

I’ve been positive about the club with the signings we’ve made.

But this is shocking.

I agree with you ,now that Bogle has left we have had 15 players walk away and brought 4 in , we are well short of a decent squad .Two or three injuries away from being threadbare . We also have players in the squad who we dont want and others who have permanent sick notes so to think we are top 2 is way of the mark . Why is it that the guys who's contracts are up or are on the last few months of the contract can't wait to get away leaving us to bring in freebies because we are getting f all for them but the cost of replacing them is not possible because we cant afford a bog roll .

Players like this annoy me, I'd love to get miles clear of the rest by Christmas, promotion guaranteed and offer him less then run his contract down, like Mcburnie he's playing with us, nobody wants him ATM, so using us as a safety net, tough, withdraw offer and put the money/ wages towards a decent new sticker, he's half the player Diaz is, bye

As someone else mentioned Shackleton at right back and Curtis as back up but for Christ sake we need to get some bodies in now! Won't be long before Souza Anel and possibly Hamer are off too.

It’s a shame we won’t see what should be his peak years. But he’s got metalwork in his knee, and has only recently sustained his form/fitness over a notable period.

He might have been a huge player for us. But the odds of that are much less clear for him than when we lost, say, Iliman or Ramsdale.

Plus I won’t mourn the lucrative sale of any of last year’s squad other than the youngsters. They’re carrying the weight of what happened and it’s potentially very toxic.

But as ever, absolutely everything depends on recruitment…….

Exactly, part and parcel of football

O’Hare did it to Cov to our benefit, more so at least were shrewd enough to get money for a replacement for Bogle

Leeds no better than us so if his ambition tops out at a side ways move fuck him

Because we have short sighted fools running our club that have allowed that to occur.

We would not have lost half of our best players if we actually had people at the top with a proper footballing brain.
