CONFIRMED Bogle to Leeds United

Been offered a new contract ! What does the club do when he won't sign it ?
Either sell him to another club that's not a direct rival (I'd even take less than Leeds might pay) or keep him for the year, hopefully get promoted and change his mind on a new deal. But sooner let him walk than sell to Leeds and miss out on promotion to them

Also, with the above, are you saying if they won't sign terms we should be selling them last season, or two seasons ago in McBurnie's case?

You weren't asking me, but yes.
We need to sell players at the point in time whereby the fee received can be used to adequately replace. Would agree there's nuance and the business case has to stack up.
It would have been wrong to sell Ndiaye, Berge & McBurnie during a promotion battle.

I can’t believe the number of posters who constantly slate the club without knowing any facts.

On Bogle, I’ve not seen it reported whether we’ve offered him a further deal (though I’m sure someone can correct me). I’d surprised if the club and CW didn’t want to do that as he’s a good age and has bags of experience. 23 and three (?) seasons of PL football is a good pedigree and a good asset to build around.

I think the only facts we can deal with on the expiring players is of those we’ve offered new deals, they aren’t sufficient to attract them to sign as they aren’t signing them. The exact figures can’t be ascertained.

What about selling him, signing 2 players ( plus some loanees) and winning promotion?

He's a good defender and a good winger. The problem arises when we ask him to do both jobs at the same time because he gets caught out of position very easily.

If it turns out that we've made really decent contract offers to him, and he's turned them down (see Berge and Ndiaye) then get him fucked off.

If he's making reasonable demands and we can't/won't match them, then it highlights the problem I raised earlier of leaving it too late to negotiate contracts.

My issue with it all is the small fee we'll get for him when we know he could be worth so much more

But then he could run his contract down and go for nothing in 12 months.
Power with the player and buying club
yeah fair point bertie but in any case 3m is insulting to us and the player even if he is in the last year of his contract we shouldnt be letting him go for anything less than 6m

Just asked Peter Ridsdale about Bogle as he walked past me. He told me he’s about as welcome as the clap in Leeds and to leave him alone.

Would rather have someone who can defend and cross a ball rather than a constantly injured wildly inconsistent forest gump
Criticising Brewster = bad

Criticising Bogle = good

Do you normally stick up for players who have contributed nothing over those that have helped with promotion and actually played games and scored goals?!

Imo, Leeds won’t pay £7m
They’ll either wait 6 months and get him on pre contract agreement and pay fk all, or us and Leeds will compromise and meet somewhere between the £3m and £7m. Perhaps a lower fee with add ons making the value up to somewhere nearer?

Wilder wants him here so I understand which is obvious, but it’s what our owner wants to happen

I don’t know, have we offered Bogle a new contract? Don’t recall reading anything?

I don't remember us being particularly public about contract renewal discussions very often. Only ones that have been mentioned at all that I recall are when Bettis came out and talked on the Berge and Ndiaye situations after they both left. Other than that it's just the retained list at the end of a season where we make anything public re: renewals as far as I know

Bogle had an option that was activated but any new contract beyond this coming season would need sorting after the takeover. You're not allowed to do a pre-contract agreement with a team in the same country until a month before the contract runs out so he wouldn't be able to agree to join Leeds in six months (and he might not want to).

With so few players it'd be weird to sell him unless we get a really good offer and we're not likely to get one of them, so makes sense to keep him, see how the season goes and how Curtis develops and if Bogle is surplus in January, sell him for about a million or so then.

Teams from the same country can't negotiate pre-contract agreements.
They'd only be allowed to negotiate with him when his contract expires

spot on with the money they got for gray tell em nothing less than 10m or bogle stays here
FFP im sure there are some inflated transfer fees seems a bit dodgy to me clubs balancing the books some strange fees being agreed

Aye Matt you’re the third one to tell me I fked up 😁

One day I’ll learn these football rules, although at 65 I think there isn’t much hope

For those who would consider selling Bogle, the big question is, within a reasonable budget, with whom do you replace him?
For clarity, I wouldn't sell him if I had the choice. But in a scenario where he has to be sold? I'd put Sam Curtis in as 1st choice, Shackleton is there as backup, and maybe look for someone on a free/cheap.

Bogle hasn't signed a new contract. I don't think he will down tools but if he doesn't want to be here sell him for as much as we can get.
We need to invest on a replacement, Curtis isn't ready yet and Shack is a jack of all trades, we would need to spend to get a quality replacement.
Hope he stays.
