If playing 4-2-3-1 I don't really see a place in the team for Bogle anymore sadly.

Disappointed to see Bogle leave if this happens.

Assume we'll need a replacement as Shackleton isn't a full time RB for the season imho and there's no one behind at Champ level yet.

Would rather have someone who can defend and cross a ball rather than a constantly injured wildly inconsistent forest gump
He's struggled with injuries in the past, he's a young man. Try not punching down on the easy targets buddy.

I would like us to keep Bogle if possible. I’d be surprised if another championship club would offer the sort of money we cannot refuse for a right back.

He’s 23, decent going forward, sometimes a bit dodgy at the back but gets away with it more often than not in the championship. At 23 he’s not hit his peak yet and still has time to improve.

Most importantly for me we’re already rebuilding the squad with double figures ins/outs this summer. It would be good to keep hold of a few established first teamers and not have another position to fill, especially after gorgeous George leaving.

If we're moving to 4-2-3-1 which seems likely, where does Bogle fit into your team?

I’d prefer to keep as he was one of the only players who came out with any credit last season, despite everything.

Great at going forwards too, so maybe there’s a role more advanced? Not sure, but it’d be shame for him to side step right now.

Of Bogle and Baldock it’d be madness to lose both imo.

Not good enough defensively to be solely a defender.

Sorry but I disagree with you on that one. On two counts.

As someone else mentioned earlier in the thread some of his better games came this season where we were pegged back and he purely defended all game. He proved that he’s reasonably capable at just defending if required and while he’s 23 he’s also still improving and learning. We’ll be playing at a lower level as well.

Just because we look like we’ll be playing 4231 this season absolutely doesn’t mean your left and right backs cannot attack. It just means that their cover comes from elsewhere. In fact I’d argue that it’s almost more important that they do attack sometimes or you end up with 6 players barely crossing the half way line. One of the midfield 2 either step across or the 3 remaining defenders do. If you look at City for example, they’ve played variations of 4231 and 4141 under Pep on and off for years and have had the likes of Walker, Cancelo and Gvardiol bombing forwards. 4231 can be really overly cautious is you play with a flat 4 with 2 sat in front. There has to be some fluidity. At a level where I’d hope we see more than 50% of the ball most weeks just having 4 players allowed to attack would quite easily be stifled out by teams parking the bus at the lane

In his final years contract, if we get offered anything above £7m then I think we should look to sell the lad.

He absolutely shouldn’t be allowed to walk for free that’s for sure and everyone has their price but I reckon we should try and tie him down to a new contract

Reports tend to suggest he's not keen on sticking around anyway

I’ve read them. It could be a few things though

He’s fucked off and wants to leave - sell him for as much as we can get

His agent is trying to get his client some more dosh - have the discussion

Leeds or any other interested party trying to unsettle him or the club to lower the asking price or make him feel undervalued - tell them to get fucked and offer him a new deal.

We’ll never know for sure will we.

£7m is an absolute joke. Get him on a new deal

If he had 3 years or longer on his contract with us still to run then I would agree that he is probably worth about double that (£15m would be a fair price in today's market I would suggest). But... he only has 1 year left. Therefore we have to be realistic in his value to us as things stand and, all things considered, i think £7m plus is a fair selling price. If we get sold him for that then I wouldn't criticise the club at all for that decision.
