I think the offers were on the table but the club gave them a deadline to sign the new contracts or go, exactly what we should have done with the 2 clowns who we held on for until a week before the season started last year, good luck to them, time to move on, gutted about Egan and Baldock, but the rest I'm happy that they’ve gone, clean slate, hopefully with new ownership, now we just need them and new players though the door.

It's always nice to say a few words after someone leaves the club.

So, I've a few words for McBurnie, he was wank, couldn't strike a ball cleanly, and couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo - piss poor scoring record. Never fully fit, and when he was, his disciplinary record was terrible. Off the field he was pretty objectionable too.

He will make a good centre half for someone.

If anyone says "But where will the goals come from" - they never came from McBurnie when he did play.

Good riddance
I totally agree, that sums him up perfectly.
On a footnote he scored 26 goals for us, based on his transfer fee, wages and bonuses I reckon that works out at about £1 million per goal.
Not on Brewsters level but still shockingly bad value for money.

Hang on, loads on here have been saying all last season we need a clean sweep and the last wilder era was done, now they're getting shut of them all they're wrong?
Exactly. This is what I don’t understand. Is it fear of change or the unknown?
Something was rotten last season and with everyone a year older it wasn’t going to get any better.
Can’t have it both ways- the squad as it was, was a spent force. Get the aged, injury prone high earners out the door and get some young, hungry, up and coming players in mixed with a few experienced heads and some PACE and let’s have a good crack at it.

Would've been nice to get replacements in first so we have an actual squad, you know like normal teams do

Looking forward to a new team most have been too comfortable for a few years now and happy to pick up a wage.Time to bring in hungry players for the next promotion party then build on that

I'm sad to see Egan go but let's be honest, he's been out injured almost the entire season. What are the chances he's going to be anything other than backup after coming back from that? We've been here before with too many players, it's the biggest wonder we extended RND's deal given that he's in the same boat if not worse.

McBurnie, in hindsight, we should have sold last summer. Someone would've had him. And I think if Ndiaye had stayed, we probably would have, but once him and Berge were out the door any more sales would've been taking the piss. Nonetheless GLTTL, I always liked him more than most on here.

Jebbo I'm not going to waste a paragraph on, he's just going to end up being Diego de Giralamo but with one Premier League goal.

McBurnie was injured last Summer....

Thought he was back by the end of August, although my memory has helpfully blacked out 90% of last season so I'm probably misremembering.
I have PTSD esque flashbacks to us having Osula and Traore upfront for the start of the season... Maybe it was a fever dream???

When the club got promoted a year ago everyone (including myself) thought Robinson was the one of the back 3 that needed to be upgraded on. Now a year later it looks like he's the only one left. Who would've thought.

I’m not overly bothered about losing Egan, Mcburnie, Ozzie, Baldock, Norwood etc. All fantastic servants to the club and a huge influence at the club during the height of our recent success. But all had their limitations and to me are all champ standard players.

I think for us to evolve and improve we need new players. More technical ability, more athleticism, more creativity. Problem is that costs a lot of money. I also don’t trust wilder to recruit those types of players. Lots to potentially get wrong.

I’m also a little stressed out that they have all gone at once instead of staggered with now a threadbare squad. That first signing can’t come soon enough.
It was poor management / planning originally to have not staggered the contract expiries a little better & not to have so many players contracts to run out simultaneously .. . In the current situation it may well possibly work in our favour & allow us to offload some deadwood but if these were players still on their game a lot would be walking out the door & leaving the club in the shit

Its a heartfelt 'thank you and good luck' to John Egan from me. A great player for us in his prime and always gave his best. I'm sorry to see him go and had hoped that we could agree a deal with him that helped us through this transition stage, even if he wasn't first choice for every game.

The first part of your post is amazing news for 50% of our fanbase 🤣
I’d imagine it’s far north of 50%! Why is he no longer ‘McPub’ now he’s not re-signing?? Funny that

If the players were on their game we wouldn't be back playing the Pigs again!

Very sorry to see Egan go. Great servant to the club. But what nobody on here knows is what the medical prognosis on Egan is after what is clearly a very bad injury. Last thing we needed is to give him an expensive contract and then sit out another season injured.

Shame to see Egan, Ozzie and Ollie go. Ozzie has landed himself another contract. Whilst the other 2 haven't, despite having the opportunity.
Surely nobody else coming in for two players with long term injury issues says something. You'd think a team like Bradford or Wrexham would be interested in Mcburnie 🤔

They'll find new clubs easily. Mcburnie can score double figures in the championship which is hard to find for a free.
