2nd or 3rd keeper to a PL club probably suits him.

He isn’t going to get better so we have seen peak Wes, good and bad.

Think Wilder just wants someone younger and more on the up curve, rather than plateau and soon down curve that Wes is facing.

Agree, also think Wilder prefers someone more commanding and vocal.

Think Wes is a fantastic shot stopper and he pulled off some excellent saves on Sunday
but it's his decision making at corners and crosses regards does he stay on his line or come off it
and his distribution with his feet is poor. He's not a shouter or character either, bossing his defence telling them where the danger is.

Overall a good keeper, comfortable/ decent Championship standard but not PL level.
I've no issues with Wes staying and remaining as number 1 but as mentioned, he's not the future.

Be good move for him West Ham number 2/3.

Shown he’s not a starting PL keeper but can play in the cups and would look good. With a better defence in front of him as well. It’s a good move all round.

Depending on who we sign at the back for next season we might actually need a very good goalkeeper. Wes is a decent Championship GK and is fine in a high functioning team behind a defence with some awareness of how to defend.

I’m not convinced we’ll have a high functioning team or a decent defence so a top end Championship keeper may be required.

I was a Wes critic prior to Grbic arriving & felt it was a position we needed to upgrade. But when you see this stats what chance does any keeper have. Defensively the worst in Europe for shots conceded.
I said it at the time that we didn’t need to replace Wes he was a good shot stopper sometimes excellent, granted he wasn’t the all round keeper but for the free transfer, low wages he was an excellent signing. I don’t think the best keepers in the world could cope with the workload Wes had to deal with plus we weren’t a massive threat at the other end which meant one mistake got punished. Wish him luck in the future but I personally feel trying our luck at a good 2 year deal should have been towards the top of the list however Wilder has other ideas which have to be respected

Am not so sure I respect Wilders ideas.

For me he's the best keeper we've had since we had Henderson on loan, didnt get Ramsdale always seemed to be in the wrong position, including in his time at arsenal. Ramsdale made routine Wes saves look world class and we were much better for Wes replacing him.

I get the feeling we will end up with someone far worse than Wes next season

That's the risk isn't it. What I don't understand is why Wilder 'singled out' Wes as the contract rebel? McBurnie hadn't signed a new contract but was played whenever fit. Wilder only reverted to Wes as Garbage was a complete embarrassment.

Maybe Wes wouldn't have stayed whatever but we r now in a position where a keeper on our books who we have won promotion with before is off for free and we r need to sign 2 new keepers.

I suspect Wes wanted a contract over what he's worth. He's an ok keeper who I'm sure we'd have kept on a sensible contract.
I'm sure we can get a better keeper

Quite possibly. Rightly or wrongly the negotiations remain behind close doors. I definitely think there are better all round keepers out there for sure it’s just at what cost/how much do we have £ wise or are we off into the loan market again which might not be the worse idea with academy keepers coming through
