Brererton-Diaz won’t look too photogenic rolling round the Shirecliffe floor after the snipers put one in his hamstring

Like this signing. Exactly the presence we need in the attacking third and he'll be keen to prove he's good enough.

The only downside is the lack of option to buy, but its an impossible situation.

We wouldn't have been able to sign him if he was scoring at Villarreal, but he's only young and they want to see a return on their investment so want him to rediscover form. I cant see a scenario where we get to keep him. He plays well and scores, Villareal want him back. He's shit, we dont want him. Perhaps he needs to be bang average but learns the words to the GCB and get a blades tattoo so we want him anyway.

All depends on how well he does, whether he settles in the team, and what his future wages would be if he wanted to come permanently.

All three have to happen/be acceptable to all parties for it to become a permanent deal, but I suspect that after a miserable time playing wise for him at his Spanish club, he like it back in blighty with CW as his boss and be pushing his agent try and fix it up as a permanent in the summer if he likes us and we like him. I don't think it's as pie in the sky as some seem to think re him coming here permanently in the summer. First of all though, he has to do the business in the first team.

Let’s not kid ourselves.

The lad is here because we are the highest placed club shown an interest in him after Villareal decided to loan him out or accepted his request for more game time elsewhere.

Sadly the only possible benefit to United is if the lad scores 15 goals and wins us the 30 points needed to keep us up. But we have to be realistic that he’s BBD…not prime Lionel Messi.

He’s doing this for his own benefit, not for some desire to leave the lovely climate in Spain and get back to the UK and in this case Sheffield no doubt living out of a hotel and a suitcase.

We will only be able to consider him staying if he’s very good and keeps us up, so we can decide to try buy him from Villareal. If we go down, he will not want to be here in the second tier again…he will feel he’s done his time down there and can just go back to Villareal for now. So there won’t be any big push for him to come here in those circs.

But fact remains he’s miles better than Traore and therefore a much more usable member of the squad for the remainder of the season. Let’s hope he’s fit enough eh

Benjamin Anthony Brereton Díaz (born 18 April 1999), commonly known as Ben Brereton Diaz, previously known as simply Ben Brereton, traditionally known as Ben, nicknamed by Chileans as Big Ben, called Benji by his pals and Benjamin by his mother on Sundays.

It’s funny how out transfers get done straight away but in one’s take forever.

Agree.....this signing makes sense in so many ways.
He offers so many things that we are lacking....so in theory....should offer a big improvement.

We'll even be able to play him in his favoured position on the left.....where Archer is currently playing.

Suspect Archer will now play more as centre forward and will hopefully strike up an understanding with BBD.
Makes you wonder about McBurnies future and whether will be used more as a sub.
