Just looking at this pic and had forgot how many Watford players ended up playing for the Blades.
Colin Franks, Keith Eddy, Stuart Scullion and Terry Garbutt.
We even got their manager Ken Furphy.

70/71 season was my first at the Lane and I’m on the second row to the very left of this photo of the BL stand, but too blurred to make us out clearly.
Moved to the South Stand when it was built. Great days👍

Don’t forget a certain Tony Currie…

Jeez that was a good side
It certainly was, but eventually undermined by keeping Watford solvent. Out of the people you named plus TC, gave United one, TC, and a half, Scullion, decent players the rest I wouldn't have given 2d and a conker for. The other four were not as effective as the people they replaced.

Hi Silent. I lived and grew up in Tinsley in the 60's and 70's but don't recognise this road. This looks like the road that leads from Catcliffe up towards the Yorkshire Terrier at Brinsworth but happy to be corrected.
Good spot that, Buck & I think you’re right. The giveaway is the wall outside the old vicarage on the left.
I guess though it looks to be about where the M1 bridge goes over Whitehill Lane so will probably have been part of the works to build the stretch that includes the viaduct a mile or so up the road.

Keith Eddy was a good signing.

I had the pleasure of playing cricket with both of Norman Yardley’s twin sons over the years.
Both great lads, but nowhere near as talented as their Dad - which we had great enjoyment in mentioning to them at the time. And still do!😉

Many years ago when I used to frequent Abbeydale Sports Club, there was a tiny temporary stand on wheels that was always parked up on the drive. It was labelled “The Norman Yardley Stand”.

I didn’t know anything about the fella but my dad said it was insult to a great man.

Just come across this

Joe Shaw 1961-62, wearing a kit alien to United.
White V neck on shirt with centre stripe also white.
Centre stripe white as only been used once since V & crew necked shirts have been worn. 1956-57 and then not for every game of that season.
Shorts that look red. Deduced through years of experience looking at B/W footie photos.
Sox, deduced as red with white turn overs. Often seen in photos of players whilst training but never match day wear.
Interested to know thoughts, better if anyone can give the definitive explanation. Thank YOU.
1961-62 programme photo so photo circa preseason '61 Note white 'V' neck & white centre line ...jpeg
Look at muck on't JSS roof. I'da thowt Mr.Wragg wouda got a ladder, sponge and bucket o' warm water, nipped up and gorrit sorted. Cun't get staff in them days though.

Bottom 2 werent goals scored by Woody. Him jumping for joy was when sub Tudor scored the last minute equaliser at home to Bristol City in Sept 1970. Bottom is when Man U's keeper, John Connaughton, allowed a hopeful cross shot by Salmons to slip through his hands in the 1-1 draw in April 1972.

HarryHaslam , do you have any photos of the 1973 Boxing Day match at Old Trafford? I have not been able to find any and I wonder if we wore the white shirts with collar like we did at Liverpool in October 1973 (you posted them a few weeks ago which surprised me because I was at Anfield that day but dont remember that our shirts had collars.
