To be fair, the club tweeted before we did and have put their efforts into doing everything they can to get the match on.
People have been working last night and from the early hours this morning clearing and preparing, with staff walking in from across the city.
The guy tweeting, will have also been prepping a story for the site/getting word around.
Them's the breaks palThe news off the postponement came through a minute after the train pulled out of St Pancras.
Bad Luck Greenwich, pint in the Sheffield tap, see your folks and head home again?
Them's the breaks pala real pain in the derrière for you. Thankfully I couldn't get a taxi here to the coach station (thus missing our coach to Sheff) - very Providential in that 15mins later the game is called off. Saved us a wasted journey but lost the coach fare all the same
Don't ya just love Spring????
Safe journey back home mate...
UTB!
LOL, as long as it ain't snowing...I haven't hitched to a game all season, so if I'm free for the rearranged fixture, I suppose I'd better get the yellow shirt out and dust off the thumb.
Nope; the Train Manager realised there were a number of disappointed football fans onboard (lots of Brentford you see), so when he saw my shirt he asked if I wanted to get off at Kettering, the first stop, and head back to London. This seemed the sensible option as I was dashing back after the match to get to a gig in Brighton tonight anyway. The Train Manager just scribbled on the back of my reservation saying I was allowed on the 9:27 from Kettering. Just got to negotiate a Brighton arrangement for this evening, then I can go home and get a bit of kip as I was up most of the night with the cricket.

Good effort by the train manager, enjoy the gig.
Crawley v Crewe off today which must make the whole fixture list tricky. Maybe they will extend the season after all?why did we plan the Crawley game so late in the season? We could have had it several times over by now thus giving us an extra free date.
Given we're having the worst snow this year in Spring, I wouldn't rule out a few flurries in June...if we could rearrange it for June I'd have a nice hitch in the sun. Or the rain. But hopefully not the snow...

Looking at the pitch, would we want to? Devil v Deep blue and all that, but our worst performances have tended to be on the worst surfaces.
It's either that or 3 games in 5 days at some point isn't it?
Must have been your lonely tyre tracks I saw on out road first thing Brownielike t'Antarctic up here on t'Charnock! Just a formality surely for match off verdict?
Not the clubs fault they did everything that they could, it is the city's services it is their responsibility to keep roads and walkways clear and safe.To be fair, the club tweeted before we did and have put their efforts into doing everything they can to get the match on.

Foxy and the men of our street are doing a sterling job with the snow shovels and grit to at least get our patch clear. Community spirit and all that.
I'm sure I speak for the rest of the wives and daughters when I say it's tiring just watching them![]()
Tough one GB- You must be there now- Have one for me as I sit in north Manchester wondering what all the fuss is about- and what to do today in the absence of any meaningful sport.

Conference boss firm on fixtures – no extension to season
7:20am Friday 22nd March 2013 in Sport By Michael Pearlman
FOOTBALL Conference general manager Dennis Strudwick maintains that there is no possibility of extending the season, despite mounting criticism over the fixture chaos.
Newport County AFC manager Justin Edinburgh is the latest to blast the authority after the Exiles’ scheduled clash with Gateshead was postponed for a fourth time.
County feel their promotion prospects are being severely damaged by a gruelling programme that will see them play 11 games in 29 days.
It’s even worse for part-time mid-table outfit Braintree Town who must now cram a quarter of their season into March and April.
However, the Conference are still intent on honouring their date at Wembley for the play-off final on Sunday, May 5, and were quick to point out that County’s fixture backlog isn’t just a result of the Gateshead travails.
And terrifyingly for Newport fans, Strudwick isn’t ruling out the possibility of games being played with just 24 hours in between if the rotten weather persists.
“At the moment our priority is what it always has been,” Strudwick said, “to get the games all scheduled in the best way possible.
“We are probably all ruing weeks past where there were no midweek fixtures and we know it’s going to be a very busy end to the campaign and that’s unfortunate.”
However, he is as firm as ever on the Wembley issue despite calls from many to forego the play-off final date in order to extend the season.
“All the arrangements are in place,” said Strudwick.
“I’ve seen plenty of quotes about not using Wembley and going somewhere else, but those are obviously observations made by people not in football administration.”
On the prospect of football games being played virtually every 24 hours, he commented: “I don’t have a crystal ball, we don’t know what the weather will do.
“But we can’t rule out games nearly every day, I did it as a player.
“At the moment though our focus is on making the schedule as fair as possible.”
Strudwick also pointed out that Newport’s situation is not just ‘Gateshead’s fault’.
When put to him that this wasn’t Newport’s fault, he commented: “It’s not Newport’s fault about the Gateshead game, but there is too much finger pointing going on.
“Newport have had their problems and postponements as well, like last weekend when they were the only game off in the division.
“Instead of concentrating on conspiracy theories we should be communicating about solutions.”
County’s director of football Tim Harris reacted with weary acceptance when told of the Conference stance.
“What can I say that hasn’t been said already?” he said.
“The cost to the club, to our supporters, time and again for this fixture, non-refundable hotels, travel costs, it’s all mounted for us and more importantly for our fans,” he said.
“We feel strongly that the schedule we have makes an absolute mockery of this division, but it appears those views aren’t going to make a difference.
“But we had to speak up. We owed it to our supporters.”
I'm back home in Ashford (Middx) now in the nice warm, looking at the snow flurries out of the window. Had a nice chat to some Brentford fans on the train going via Feltham - they're resigned to missing the rearranged fixture, although for most of them it won't have cost them too much as the club had laid on free coaches.
Could be worse, we could have Guernsey FC's fixtures
