Might be me being stupid but if he wants us and we want him, how would Boro force him to sign for Ajax?

Couldn’t he just run down his contract or something then sign for us?

Or is it Boro just selling to the highest bidder to get shut?
He can just play hard ball like Mbappe is with PSG

They've probably agreed around 12m and we're unwilling to go beyond 10m - that'd be my guess

But as said, if he's Hecky's top target we should be willing to spend 12m

Especially as worries about resale value are also overblown - if he keeps playing at last seasons level he's worth 10m+ in 2 years time as well
As it come from Hecki himself ! Akpom is his no one target ! I don't think so he never mentions names until the business is done.
He likes deflecting news away from his real targets.
Hamer is one of those.

Lens have pulled out of the race for some reason anyone know why?

Really tired of seeing shit like this.

It all comes down to what a player personally values. Great, with Ajax you probably win the Eredivisie and whatever the Dutch equivalent of an FA cup is, and you get to play for an iconic club. Depending on how much they value you as a player, they will probably offer higher wages too.

With us you are more likely to be THE guy, the main man. You also get to play in the Premier League, the most lucrative league in the world and be seen on the world stage week in week out, increasing your chances of being picked up by clubs much much bigger and better than Ajax.

It really isn't as simple a case of "Sheff Utd or Ajax?"

This is too premier league centric again - same as when Ndaiye was going to Marseille.

most lucrative league… maybe.

But Ajax have won a European cup in the last 1/2 decade and made a champions league semi final in the past few years. I’d hazard a guess given that’s basically the biggest stage in the world more people would tune in to that than us vs Luton (for example)

The premier league is a stage but it’s far from the only one.

According to local rag Foot Mercato ,Lens have dramatically pulled out if the deal at the last minute

At this point, given it’s been reported by David Ornstein and others that he’s signing for Ajax, why does Lens pulling out of the race matter?

Jesus where did I say it's the only one? It's almost as if lots of players are quoted as saying that playing in the Premier League is their dream. Much like Iliman stating that playing for Marseille was his dream.

If it was as simple as Club A vs Club B then we'd never beat anyone to a player's signature.

A bit of critical thinking wouldn't go amiss here.

Two different sources reporting 12m + 2 and one 15 million total, so near double the reported 8

Probably not just you / or what you were suggesting

But I got pretty board of people suggesting the premier league is the only league that matters.

Think it’s too dismissive of other leagues / opportunities . Ones That draw massive crowds and the opportunity to ply at the highest level and experience regular European football and win trophies.

It’s reductive to suggest signing for Luton or us should automatically be everyone’s number one priority just because we’re in the PL this year

Sky sports transfer centre was still running that Hamer was having a medical with us the following day after we had revealed his signing and the midnight blades thing Friday night

Right now they are reporting a 10 million fee has been accepted from both lens and Ajax, that is the yellow banner headline on sky sports news right now

Personally I’m fine with missing out on Akpom but right now I wouldn’t put anything other than speculation that we are out

Never have I said that signing for a PL team should automatically be everyone's number one priority. If you actually bothered to read what I said then you'd notice that I said "Different players value different things", and it's quite evident that plenty of players DO put a lot of weight behind playing in the PL, that's not something that people have just made up.
