Boro are in a position like we were with are star man .Their star man as only 12 months to go on his contract so as we all know boro will not get the players full value .

Seems like plenty (based on a solitary season as the ripe age of 28), think we should be giving him 50k a week.

i dont think we should be offering him 50k a week but i also think we should be offering more than 18k a week for a striker that got 28 championship goals no wonder were slow making signings if were offering targets low salaries were a premier league club no wonder hecky is frustrated
 
Can’t believe we would take an injured player given the crocks we are missing upfront let alone Flecks broken leg.

His previous high in a season was something like 8 in the greek league.

He's not performed at all, even at Boro 3 years back, 5 goals in nearly 40 matches. He's had a great spell....

Leon Clarke had a better career, think anyone was paying 8m for him after he banged in a similar level of goals?
 
Seems a huge gamble at that price. The age renders any resale value minimal. No record of goals at Champ or above except one season. That said I'd take him ror 2-3 million if his wages (including relegation reduction clause) were reasonable.

When the Prince and his entourage were criticising our Prem recruitment last time, we were told that there was much better value abroad that Wilder was blind too. I'm expecting young, highly talented foreign bargains on manageable wages, not unimaginative Championship players on already sizeable salaries for large fees. Let's be having them!

yeah but thats not to say he wont score in the premier league and hecky seems to think he will as well which is good enough for me

For geographical reasons I don't see that many games in the flesh, but was at both Boro games last season. He was very impressive both times, his movement off the ball had our defence in a spin.
Knows where the onion bag is, gerrimin for me.

Video of his goals from last year. Very billy sharp like in a way with a bit more pace. Makes you wonder why he hasn't scored many until last year. Was he played on the wing?!

Carrick moved him to attacking mid and he revelled in the role linking defence and attack and getting on the end of moves he had often started
I personally. Think he would be a great signing as an illy replacement but we would need a number nine to play alongside him
 

Signing Akpom doesn’t excite me like it should - cracking player last year but….I don’t know 😭😭

So if we’re offering him £18k p/w and my maths is correct, we’re asking him to take a 35% pay cut to join us!
And to add insult to injury, if we get relegated back to the league he’s currently playing in, that becomes a 65% cut! 😳
I’m not surprised he wants to stay where he is! 🤣
 
Nothing excites me about this rumour at all. Not the player, not the price it'll cost us, nothing.

Just seems like a panic buy. Never done much before last season, no top flight experience, no re-sale value at the age he's at.

Must be better out there in Europe for the same kind of money or less at a younger age.

At age 27, it took until last season for him to even hit double digits in a league campaign, baring in mind he's spent 4 seasons across the Belgian and Greek leagues..

In a team creating loads, yeah point taken - but even if we only get 1/4 of that output, surely we’d be playing with house money by the end of the season
