I'd love him back but if he goes to Bayern, so what? He's a fan of the club just like you or I. I have a lot of respect for him but he's not some kind of God. No one man makes a team, so whatever we've got come the end of the transfer window I'll get behind them all.

I totally get he's got to look after his career but at the same time if he went on loan this season for a season then allowed his deal to run out at City then he could feasibly join us next summer. I'm sure there would be many teams willing to take him on loan but maybe they'd want it to be a permanent at the end of it. Can't see us joining United to the end of the Munich deal now and at 35 he's probably only got 1/2 more years at PL level then.

2 year contract covers him, nobody can blame him. You put yourself first.

Lets say he signs a one year deal and a month before the end of the season he breaks his leg. Career over, no move to any other club will come he sits out with £0 for a year, probably career ending at that stage.

Nobody over 30 will sign a 1 year contract if they can get more, dreaming of playing for his boyhood team in the PL or not.
