I've more chance of winning the lottery than that happening and I don't do the fucker😆

A loan with a 50% contribution of his wages is £4m
Why would Man City subsidise this in his last year of contract when they could just sell him and make money (sure there would be plenty of suitors)?

Don’t get me wrong - I’d love it, just don’t see why they’d do it.

Walker has well and truly earned the right to decide his future with City imo, and I've never really seen City be the hardball cunts when it comes to player business. Always seem to look after their legends in their later years.

115 irregularities aside, I like the way they operate.

A year left, but Guardiola has already said not part of the new system Man C will be playing.
They could just sell him for like £30 million? but instead pay half his wages so he can play for us?

I don't really get why Man City would do this. I'm pretty sure Pep came out with that as a challenge to Walker to adapt his game.

Well sure, but given that he walks into probably any other team in Europe, I doubt they'll be cancelling his contract so he can join us for nowt.

Surely they can only sell him to somewhere he wants to go?
Surely the biggest team in the world would just refuse to let him sign for us if he was being awkward, let alone cover half his wages?!

I'm not sure where this "Kyle desperately wants to leave the team he just did the treble with and take a huge pay cut to sign for his struggling boyhood team" narrative comes from.

That's a very rough calculation and a number of other factors should be considered e.g. loan fee, bonus structure, image rights etc.

The most likely scenario if Walker signaled he wanted to leave and Man City agreed to facilitate it, would be for Man City and Walker to agree to a settlement agreement regarding the final year of his contract thereby making him a free agent. However, that would take a huge amount of goodwill from City who would essentially be disposing of an asset that holds value. They may act differently depending on Walker's intended destination - I doubt it would even be considered if he was angling for a most to West Ham for example.

Despite all the stories circulating, I still think him remaining at Man City next season is the most likely scenario and then potentially joining Utd if they survive next season.

The rumours started a couple of weeks ago, although originally AFTER his current contract had ended.
Maybe our promotion has ramped it up a bit?

Didn't this come off the back of what Pep said, which seemed an entirely odd thing to say at the time. Especially since he then played him!

I saw loads of push back when people were discussing Conor Coady - position not desperate, big wages, wrong age. Yet not seen anyone make the same argument against Walker and he's older.
For the record I would be happy to have either of them as they are very good experienced players.
Walkers still arguably the best right back on the planet, granted he’s getting on. I’d be happy with both (or either) for the record too!

Walker apparently mentioned it after Spurs Cup game:

"England international Kyle Walker has once again been linked with a return to his boyhood club Sheffield United.
The right-back, 32, is out of contract at Manchester City next summer, by which time he will be 34, with recent reports suggesting that he could leave the Etihad when his deal expires - and potentially make an emotional return to where it all began."

good point sign em both on loan would give us 50% more chance of staying in the premier league were going to have minimal possesion next season so the defensive side of things is very important especially as were certainly not gonna score that many and hope for 1 - 0 wins

Walker won’t be coming as he will want that thing all other football clubs in the PL possess but we never have. Money.

The reality is that City would have to accept a nominal fee in comparison to probably £15-25m from a richer club & Walker would have to take a £100,000 pay cut. He might love us, but he's not stupid 🤣

We have 0.00000001% of signing Walker and Coady, but if we did then we would stay up imo. The back 5 would be unreal and take some penetrating

Extend Berge and Ndiaye contracts for another 3 years with stupid amounts of wonga and sign Doyle and Archer ;)

Now weerz them new rich owners FFS ? 🤣

Why would City settle his contract? Surely, if this is in any way a possibility, it would be a loan with us paying a portion of his wages. TBH City would be bonkers to do that given they could still get £15m+ for him, but hey let me dream.

The ONLY way I could see this happening would be a loan with an obligation to buy IF we stay up. Not sure how that would work if he's out of contract next summer though?

And if I'm honest, if we can only have one loanee from City, and barring KDB deciding he fancies a new challenge, I'd rather have McAtee back again.

For me Walker does have a decision to make.

He's always said that he wants to end his career with us, but does he want to give us a season at 37 when his legs may have gone and l, god knows what division we'll be in...

Or...

Doe he come now with guaranteed PL football when he's still the best in the World?

If he comes now, there's a risk he could get relegated and then he'll probably go back on his word and leave for a PL club again.

I think he'll sign for free if we stay up
