What I've said about needing to significantly raise the wage ceiling if promoted....... apply that with Henderson. Do what's needed to get him

Then at least we could be built on him and Egan again

He priced himself out of ever signing for us permanently when he signed a huge 100k a week + contract after his spell with us. Even if we were promoted.

Forget him and move on.

Same with MGW. His transfer fee and contract will put him in a different stratosphere to us now. Though I don’t understand the clamour to resign him after he chose Forest if all places after last season.

both great players for us but like all footballers thesedays they go where the money is right now thats forest and of course their both kissing the badge every game like they did when they both played for us however if forest get relegated and we get promoted who knows what might happen in the summer depending of course how wealthy our new owners are but i do agree with another poster if were to survive in the premier league we have to start paying premier league salaries for top players that was what did for us last time

Fee??
Likely to be pretty big given his status, and wages would match.

So he won’t be coming to us unless ManU cancel his contract, and why would they do that?

Unfortunately, I suspect he'll be wearing Spurs' #1 jersey next season. He'd be far too expensive (fee & salary) for Utd to even consider buying.
However, if he were available for loan, I would hope Utd would be v keen. He's the sort of upgrade that's required in goal ( Fotheringham simply isn't Prem level) and would be worth using one of the 2 Prem loans on (even if it would be costly).

We get 2 uk based loans. We won't be wasting one on a keeper this time around.

More important areas need attending to higher up the pitch.

Personally I don't think Henderson's previous loan could be classed as a waste. He played a critical role in his final season and was a far better GK than Utd would have been able to recruit permanently.
I do however agree that how PH decides to use his 2 UK loans next season will be key and will I'm sure depend on (i) who is available and affordable) and (ii) how the other recruitment progresses. I'm sure he'll be chasing McAtee again which leaves one left more space.
The other consideration is timing with many loans not confirmed until the Prem squads are announced.
Personally, I'd go for Archer - he's ready for a Prem chance but I doubt he'd make the Villa bench. I think he'd fit Utd's style well and would offer both an ability to counter at pace but also hold the ball up.

I think he's slightly damaged goods now. Not played regularly for seasons. Not been a hit at Forest (albeit injured for a chunk of his loan). I think he's going to be looking at a mid to lower Prem side or a transfer overseas.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat, but I don't think we should be looking to spend that level of money on a keeper. I see Fodders as capable enough when the budget is obviously stretched (unless a takeover occurs in swift order.)

No ta. Not with his wages. I'd rather us go in for Ben Wilson at Coventry on permanent and have our own asset ready to challenge Wes for a starting spot. The keeper at Leyton Orient (Vigouroux) or the keeper at the Millers are both decent keepers too and would be attainable at a decent price you would think.

If we have a limited budget, GK will be near the bottom of the priority list, and wages and any fee make him a no go before even discussing form and limited appearances recently.

Will stay in the premier league as he sees himself as the best English keeper…probably end up at somewhere like Spurs…think they’ve seen their arse with Lloris and Forster isn’t great…and of course have the finances to chuck it his way.
Only fly might be Man U not wanting to strengthen a direct rival in the league and probably prefer to send him abroad

We are in the premier league

Isn't he injured till early next season anyway? I would have thought if we are looking for a new keeper that we'd be wanting someone guaranteed before August/September time, unless we plan to keep Davies and then have three first team keepers which with our budget I'm not so sure we'll do.

How do we know Wes isn't good enough, give him a chance. Just need a decent back up.

We are in the premier league
But want to pay like we are in the championship!
And on top of that will be lucky to have sufficient funds to spend more than £10m on a single player.

Remind me again how much we had to pay to get Ramsdale from relegated Bournemouth?

Henderson was a Wilder signing. Not a signing under PH. The current manager will probably have zero interest in bringing in Dean Henderson even if by some chance we had the budget available to do so (which we clearly don't). Henderson is a non starter. That ship has sailed a long time ago.

Quite correctly, he is all about DH and his own career and there is plenty of badge kissing for the latest club who are paying his extortionate wages. A bit insincere it feels to me. We've moved on and I wouldn't want him back now anyway. Let him continue to drain the finances of Man Utd or the Trees.

How could you possibly know any of that ?

You have just taken the most negative view possible and gone with it

Heard all this bollox last time we went up about how we would spend less than 20 million and no more than ten on one player and as usual it turned about to be complete bollox

Wes isn't Prem level, pulled off some great saves this season but also got away with a lot that would be punished in the top flight.

GK for me is one of the priorities....new No1, release Davies, keep Wes as back up and Amissah as back up to him.

How did our wage budget compare last time out?
It’s not about knowing, it’s about listening to what certain figures at the club are saying, observing what has happened last time and the effects of that on recent finances.

So if you think after all that has happened with an owner struggling to finance and now sell the club, and who has stated how the toll of owning the club and managing the debt has affected him and his family, that he will sanction spending any way close to last time and also increase wage spending then it’s nothing but delusional I’m afraid.

I know folk are excited about promotion and hoping we might sell to an owner who will swoop in and chuck money at the club but recent history suggests that simply won’t happen.

So rather than set yourself up for being disappointed my advice is to be realistic and keep a level head.

He’s much better than Wes. If we had the chance to bring Henderson in we should, I doubt we will though as I presume Man Utd will want to cash in instead of another loan and if they do loan him he’s on over £100k a week they’ll want the temporary club to cover to majority of that

I think it's an ideal time to upgrade the keeper department by bringing in a decent keeper who is there to genuinely compete with Wes or even take his place. It's how teams progress and evolve into better squads. We could have just stuck with Phil Kite as understudy for Simon Tracey back in the early 90s, but we didn't and we went out any brought in Alan Kelly to genuinely compete with him. Both turned out it be wonderful keepers and when one wasnt available we had the other ready made to come in and our standard of keeper never dropped and remained consistently high. I've no doubt that it spurred each other on as well knowing they each had to be at the top of their game to get a game at the weekend.

United should do the same now and look to bring in a genuine first choice option keeper to challenge Wes. I would go with Ben Wilson at Coventry, but if we can't do that one, then maybe the keeper at Leyton Orient or the Millers keeper (Johansson) who is a very decent keeper and probably wouldn't cost too much and would be open to playing in the PL.

I don’t mind Davies as much as some, but he’s absolutely not a Premiership keeper.

Wes does get injured & he has a rash decision in him that could get a red so we need another keeper.

I’d keep Davies as 3rd choice if he’s happy with that.

Much as I loved him when he was here I agree that the ship has sailed on Hendo.

How's about Freddie Woodman at Preston instead? Good age, Lots of clean sheets this year and Preston have said that they are willing to listen to offers as he's one of their higher earners.

Thought his stats would have been better at Forest - 3rd worst for goals conceded vs. expected goals conceded (best in the league have been Leno, Alisson, Kepa, Neto, Raya):

Although was having a most positive just before his injury:
